This past Saturday I took my dog down to LAX to do some spotting. Exiting the 105, I saw a Saudi Arabian Airlines MD11 parked near the Imperial Terminal. I assume this is a private Saudi Royal family flight, but can anyone confirm? I've seen a number of Saudi Arabian planes at LAX over the years, but alas, no scheduled service (yet).

The SV MD-11 comes in monthly for the most part. Usually flies via SNN or DUB from what I have gathered.

Is it a Saudi Royal Family flight?

Unless it was a freighter, it was probably this one, part of the Royal Flgiht. I believe all other MD-11s in SV livery are freighters.

Yeah, this one was definitely a passenger version, not a Freighter. I know the Saudi Royals keep homes in the LA area, so that was probably it. Must be nice to take your personal MD11 to your getaway house in Bel Air!

They also have a large home in GVA. Their Royal flight aircraft are frequent visitors, probably about once a week on average. I've seen as many as four of their Royal flight aircraft at GVA simultaneously.

Don't think LA would have the market to support SV.

I agree with that, especially with EK coming into the picture...

The Saudi MD11 which has been painted and remodeled recently to make it the best looking MD11 ever is right now parked -obviously for nightstop- at BGR, Bangor Maine. Maybe they enjoy one of the tasty Lobsters, just as I did  Silly

I see this aircraft all the time it seems like. I also see a Qatar Airways A345 here occassionally. I love the view of LAX when traveling Northbound on Sepulveda before the tunnel!  Smile
