DLConn will be adding back a 2nd BFL-SLC frequency starting in July.

UAX will add a 3rd BFL-LAX in June.

So a little good news for BFL in light of MX cancelling service to GDL.

WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!

Just recently I was informed that DL Connection was down to just one daily...glad to see the morning departure and evening arrival are back!!

As for the LAX flights, wasn't there a thread recently about EM2's and their future in California? If UAExpress can justify two BFL-DEN flights - in competition with DL's BFL-SLC - then that sounds like the necessity of connecting at LAX is somewhat closing, and they are hoping to connect more pax through DEN than LAX.

Now all BFL needs is DFW and/or IAH, and the true level of sustainability will be attained:

LAX - 3x (UAExpress)
SFO - 3x (UAExpress)
SMF - 1x (XE)
SAN - 1x (XE)
LAS - well, this isn't a hub anymore, so is it really needed?
PHX - 4x (USExpress)
SLC - 2x (DLExpress)
DEN - 2x (UAExpress)

Come on back, American Eagle or Continental Connection!! A beautiful new terminal and jetbridges - and an obviously willing flying public - await you!!  cloudnine

I bet one day you will see Continental's ExpressJet flying trying to fly a 3 hr 50min flight from IAH to BFL. All I can say is, at least it has the single side. I surprised to see that BFL doesn't get served by QX.

They already have. It was dropped awhile back.

The rumor I heard was that CO did fairly well on the IAH route. I do know that they went from 2 to 3 roundtrips before they cut the flights. Apparently, the flights were cut when ExpressJet and Continental parted ways with ExpressJet taking 69 ERJs out of CO service. Many of those 69 planes were extended range and thus the cuts to Bakersfield.

There was even a rumor that CO was thinking of upgrading one of the flights to a 737-500...first domestic mainline flight for BFL since AA pulled out in 1999.

That is actually their next goal:

I tried to find the previous newsletter, but apparently they don't keep them once a new one comes out.

Looks like BFL has a new very nice new terminal building.

Where would QX intend to fly to from BFL? LAX, SJC, PDX, and SEA?

One of my ExpressJet trip reports, with several pictures of the new William M Thomas terminal. It is QUITE beautiful!!

The Airchive was kind enough to put my pictures of the new terminal's open house (prior to opening) on its website.

Believe me, the new terminal is the Taj Mahal in comparison to the older terminal!!

Seattle is their primary choice, with Portland close behind. Fresno has 2x daily to SEA and 1x daily to PDX, and anything FAT gets, BFL wants.

Intra-California flights, however, probably aren't on the horizon...pardon the pun. LAX is down to only three on UA Express on EM2's, and that's mainly for UA's connecting traffic. LAX is just too close for flying. SJC wouldn't strike me as really necessary, as UA again has most of the traffic connecting at SFO. Also, O&D passengers for the bay area usually take Amtrak, as there are four daily trains to the bay area (and two additional trains to Sacramento!!), and while they are cheap, they are usually PACKED!!
