Just curious I noticed on Flightaware.com today that LH 445 shows an A330 instead of an A340 and it went to DTW. Was this a medical emergency or due to the aircraft change a planned stop. I know that KL flies the A330 daily from AMS-ATL so I cannot imagine it being an issue with fuel. We did have bad weather today in ATL, so maybe a planned diversion? Flightaware states the return though is an A340? Just curious....
Landing on every Continent almost on an annual basis!

I wouldn't think it's a problem with range or fuel. NW has operated SEA-AMS with A333 in the past which is a good few hundred miles longer. They're operating SEA-NRT this summer too on A333, also longer than FRA-ATL.
