You will have to go through security to get to the store which is through a few tunnels and is, I believe, under the hotel.
All of AA's gates are in the same terminal, Terminal 3, but T3 has concourses G, H, K, & L and I think AA and American Eagle use gates in all of them. You don't have to pass through security to move between concourses though.
Twa902fly knows more about O'Hare than I do. Look him up if you want to ask about exactly where the store is.

The store is located underneath the Hilton hotel. If you follow directions that would take you to the Rapid Transit train stop and when you find the station it is directly opposite of it. The store is quite nice, I go there whenever I visit ORD. But as I said, just follow signs that say "CTA" or "Trains to City" and its right there. And yes you will have to go through security again but AA's gates are not far away. Maybe a 15 minute walk. The store really could use some help so try and visit if you can I would'nt want to see it close.

Yes, its a great little store. I also try to stop in if I have time between cnxns and they are open. Real nice folks!
Now please note that I am only talking about American above. American Eagle is located on the G concourse as well and will use some of the above mentioned G gates at times plus:
American's use of the G concourse is preferable only after 14:00 and use of the L concourse is not desired unless it is really needed which usually happens around the evening crunch time. Mostly L is used for Apple Charters and the like with the exception of Love Field on L1.
Additionally, IB will be located at K19. The AA 777s tend to hover around K12 nd K16 (with one at L8) and the other wide body international departures mostly depart K5, K7, K9 and K15 on average.
