In looking at my Skymiles account recently I noticed that I received a 500 mile bonus with the description listed as MDL SEAT MNDAY. I did in fact have a middle seat on that monday morning flight (MD88) DAB-ATL. Does this really mean what I am guessing as the meaning of the above abbreviation??

Some airlines will give bonus miles if you pop a squat in the middle seats. I know Continental gives 2,500 miles per one-way itinerary you pay full fare.
Flying an aeroplane with only a single propeller to keep you in the air. Can you imagine that? -Capt. Picard

Ahah - and then I got this in my email today - guess that explains that.
"As a Platinum Medallion® member, you probably were hoping for an upgrade on Monday—or at least a window or aisle seat. But alas, according to our records, you were stuck in the dreaded middle seat.
We try hard to give our most loyal customers our best seats, but unfortunately, that's not always possible. To thank you for your flexibility and understanding (and minimize your middle-seat memory), we will credit 500 miles to your SkyMiles® account.
It's just one of the ways we're expressing our appreciation for your loyalty to the SkyMiles program. Redeem your bonus miles for something fabulous (have you checked out the Medallion Marketplace recently?).
And look forward to future surprises as we work hard to recognize and reward our most frequent flyers. We hope to see you up front again soon!
