ZED On QF Question

I want to try to fly QF and the best route in the system for me is JFK-LAX and I was wondering if I would fly on OF from JFK-LAX could I fly UA from LAX-YVR or even UA LAX-SYD would that be allowed or would I need to fly on QF to SYD?

ZED fares are not allowed on QF's JFK-LAX route as a standalone. You need to list for a full itinerary of JFK-SYD or JFK-MEL, both with the stop in LAX.

Even while a LAX-YVR or LAX-SYD is international, ZED travelers are still not allowed on the QF JFK-LAX flight unless they are doing a full international itinerary on QF and QF alone.

yes.. thats an international flight.. you can't ride on an international carrier between domestic points in the US.

I know of QF employees flying just LAX-JFK on a staff travel ticket, can't confirm if they allow zed fares though. However I was under the impression that non rev was accepted by QF on this sector.

Just purchase a zedfare SYD-LAX-JFK-LAX-SYD and refund the unused coupons?

QF has always had 5th freedom local traffic rights SFO-YVR (and HNL-YVR when they operated via HNL).

QF staff travel website actually specifically said that they will not accept standalone travel for JFK-LAX without a connection to SYD or MEL.
