I was wondering considering how WN keeps expanding DEN... if UA and US are to merge how valuable is DEN if this continues? HP/US has dealt with WN in PHX for 30 years and have been able to co exist with each other for the most part. However WN in DEN is new and with now 3 airlines hubbing there UA, WN and F9. It looks to me more then likely if US/UA are to merge that DEN will take the hit and not PHX.
Even if F9 does shut down this just gives WN more room to expand and will continue to hurt UA. all of UA's hubs just like US hubs have been envaded by WN EXCEPT ORD/CLT. Oddly WN cant do anymore dammage to US in PHX then the possibilties of what they can do to F9 and UA in DEN.
WN at both LAX and PHX have not seen much if any growth in the last few years. So if the merger does happen I personally see SFO, LAX and PHX being hubs in the west and DEN being downside alot. UA adjusting DEN from growth WN will have there.

So youre saying that UA/US due to competition from WN, should downsize DEN and move flights to PHX, where WN is even more entrenched than in DEN???? Your argument doesnt make much sense. Also PHX cant reach the higher yield ssmaller spoke cities the way DEN can. ie FAR, FSD, PIA, MLI etc

No I never said move any flights but in reality if WN keeps expanding in DEN it will hurt both UA and F9.. WN cant really expand any further in PHX and US already has exeperience running against WN there.
WN will keep hurting both UA and F9 in DEN and both will more then likely cut flights from wherever WN flights to from DEN. Actually this has already happend UA used to have 10xdaily flights prior to WN operating DEN-PHX now then are down to 6-7xdaily.
I personally still think DEN will be a hub but will take some cuts to get in line with WN who they will be competing with the most.
