The plane is still registered to Olympic and is shown as in service.

I wonder if it will be kept in reserve in case it is needed during the busy summer months between JFK and ATH where a large capacity aircraft holding over 400 people will be needed.

SX-OAD is the only 747 still on the active roster for OA. SX-OAB, OAC, and OAE are currently "stored". The FAA has recently downgraded OA status to CAT II (?), which I believe means that OA cannot add destinations or change aircraft type to flights to the US. This was done for organizational reasons and not for safety, or maintenance issues. So until that changes, OA can only use their A-340-300's and not the 747's or A-300s' to JFK and BOS. SX-OAD is used for the occassional fill in roles for flights mostly to Heathrow, Paris, JHB and a few other destinations that currently escape my memory.
I would appreciate any updated info on the disposition of SX-OAB,C, and E.

Okay today I called my uncle who is a Olympic Airways Pilot who flew the 747s but now flys the a340...he told me that they will not use the 747 to Ny.....They might use it to Canada but this yea they used it to other European countries....Montreal Toronto Route.....for the summer in Ny Oa will have more flights with the a340...2 flights every 2 or 3 days which i believe is not enough.....every year in Ny oa is packed for the summer not even a first class seat....I also asked him about the Cargo..he has no clue about that cause the 747s are very old and now they only have one that operates...Its kinda strange how they operate Olympic Flame which is not in such good shape meanwhile Olympic Spirit is the one they should be usign cause its in the best shape....

You're correct about the SX-OAD.They don't intend to use them any more because they need an upgrade which will cost a lot to the company.Besides they're expensive to maintain. It's such a sad to see them grounded (see my url at http://www.geocities.com/pap51/oa2.JPG)
I don't think OA will bunkrupt.None want it and so they won't let it happen. They intend to purchase another B717 and a couple of A340 in the future (apart from the B738) so...

If they are getting two more A340s, they should order the new high power high capacity A340-600 for their busy JFK to ATH route.
