Was a false alarm. Faulty indicator switch on the flaps showing a problem. Pilot turned back. Safety First.

Nothing compromised at all.

In fact it was not an emergency landing, the fire crews just chose to run it as an exercise.

So Madog can I assume from your comment "sucked in', that had you been Captain of this flt (heaven help us) that you would have ignored the warning light and continued the flt?

How old are you? It doesn't matter whether or not they are capable of flight when the engines are out, if something is wrong with that airplane, what happens if that leads to other stuff and it gets outta control...things going wrong in the simulator is one thing, it's a whole different story when it's the real thing and you don't know what's happening and there's no second chance.

Oh, and by the way FSK doesn't count as a ligit flight sim man.

when you mean serious, you mean qantas is in serious crisis. no wonder they have reported a crappy peformance during the year 2000.

Madog - - - If you want to reply to these threads for god's sake, would you do it with some respect? I know you were kidding, but please in the future have some respect for the other users who take (and should take) this seriously. Yes QF have had doubtable safety problems lately, but that certainly doesn't mean you should joke about it... If lives were lost here, would you be cracking jokes??? I surely hope not... All I ask is that you think about what you are saying before you do so.

Hi guys,

Anyone knows the registration of this plane? No wonder the flight was cancelled here in Singapore...

Madog: You are surely a big joker but joking at the wrong time, wrong place? but surely to wrong people out there.

Madog, if you call a 264.4 million profit for Qantas for the half year ended Dec 31 2000 crappy how would you describe the performance of other airlines say NZ/AN with a profit I think of about 3 million?
(I am in no way "having a shot" at NZ/AN just using it as an example)
