Singapore Airlines is to add an additional A380 service on the Singapore-London route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The world’s largest passenger aircraft will be used to operate flights SQ 318 from Singapore to London Heathrow, and the returning flight, SQ 321.

“Our A380 products have been very well received by our customers, and loads on the Singapore-London route have been exceptionally encouraging. The deployment of another A380 on this route will cater to continual strong demand from customers traveling between Singapore and London,” said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Marketing and Regions.

The new A380 service between Singapore and London will take effect from 16 July 2008. However, there will be a temporary break in A380 operations on SQ 318 (Singapore-London) and SQ 321 (London-Singapore) from 31 July 2008 to 9 August 2008 inclusive as the aircraft will be deployed to Beijing for a week, to cater for increased demand in the lead-up to the start of the Olympic Games.

The Singapore Airlines A380 is currently flying as SQ322 / SQ317 daily to and from London Heathrow and Singapore featuring new products bringing Travel In A New Light and the Romance of Travel.

The next delivery is scheduled to be July as opposed to June 2008 because of the new slight delays in delivery.

At this juncture, SQ002 / SQ001 will not be getting A380 operations yet.

I'm assuming that the seconf LHR A380 will go daily after 9V-SKF is delivered in the Fall

I guess we'll have to wait till next year w/ 9V-SKG & 9V-SKH for SQ 1/2

This is sad to hear, as SQ1/2 were always going to be one of the initial services to receive the 380! Oh well - at least we have the same product (barring the suites) on SQ15/16...

Wow. Do we really need this? This is not even part of the SQ press release, but something the OP just added.

Is it really necessary that an a.net member posts an ad for SQ here instead of reporting facts in a neutral manner?

We have posts like these now seemingly daily. It does get a little annoying.

Am I cured? Slept 5 hours on last long-haul flight...

Yeah. Just wonder what he thought of the "romance of travel" when they dumped SQ006 in Taipei.
