Nothing worse than a crummy movie on a 3 hr flight. I was about to jump out the window watching Willie Wonka and the chocalate factory with Johnny depp..I dont think there was a kid on the plane. It seems the transcon movies just keep getting worse..

I know I took Alaska from EWR-SFO (via SEA) in F once. My digiplayer had crap on it, there were no good movies. I was so bored that I canceled the return portion of the ticket and flew home on B6 OAK-JFK.

Yep, that was the idea, I listened to a little ALT Nation (XM22), watched Fox news, a few episodes of Scrubs on Comedy Central, and then a brand new episode of Prison Break and finished as we were beginning our decent into JFK. The only good thing about AS was they made a damn good omelette.

I've heard the crews on AS are exceptional, as well. I haven't flown AS in nearly ten years though. Anyways, glad JetBlue was convenient and efficient for you!

That's the good thing about B6. You don't have to watch it. Watch something else on LiveTV. Problem solved.

I'd rather have a damn good omelet than watch Fox News. Actually, I'd probably rather eat a piece of tire than watch Fox News.
I'd also rather have frequent flier miles, and wider seats thanks to the ability to upgrade that frequent flier status gets me. Thus my preference for AS.
IFE is overrated.

I hope you got a refund for your return trip. If not, you sure wasted a lot of money just to fly on B6.

Quoting Skoker (Reply 1): Oh wow, not totally unexpected but still an odd move on B6's part. Was there some sort of bad blood or contract issue between FOX and jetBlue?
The only thing I could think of was when Bill O'Reilly went after JetBlue for giving free tickets to people attending the Daily Kos convention, saying that they were sponsoring a Radical Far Left organization. It wasn't exactly a good piece of reporting, but JetBlue the next day came clean about what happened. And then Bill O'Reilly claimed credit for what happened.
Sometimes the man is good, but he is too narcissistic for my liking.

Exceptional is pretty subjective...depending on your experience. I really wouldn't call AS flight attendants as exceptional and I fly them all the time. However, I would say that they are better than those of UA and AA. Alaska's sister airline Horizon Air also has pretty friend flight attendants.
Alaska's service has changed a lot over the last 10 years...more aligned with the legacy carriers.

Or listening to *good* music or watching movies I like on my iPod, or reading the books I usually have with me... any IFE that relies on TV programming or a small selection of second-run movies is doomed to be boring most of the time.

You're confusing services, as Alt Nation is the name of a Sirius Channel (Sirius 21) and channel 22 on XM is MIX, which is one of the Clear Channel-programmed channels on XM.
Quoting MOBflyer (Reply 7): That's the good thing about B6. You don't have to watch it. Watch something else on LiveTV. Problem solved.
Same is true with other airlines that offer a similar service. Although I have to say that DL's choice of a service provider (DISH Network) isn't that great, as on a recent trip on DL with the new IFE, on the flight out, several channels were not available, and on the flight back, we had one channel choice for about a third of the flight before they were able to get most of the channels back.
Quoting JetBlueAUS (Reply 4): At least if the movie isn't good, you've got 36 channels of DirecTV and 100 channels of XM Radio huh?
I wish DL had a satellite radio option in addition to the standard in-flight audio and their library of MP-3s (Although they do have enough of a variety of music to really put together a nice playlist to listen to.). You would think since they are using DISH Network for satellite TV, that they'd would also utilize the Sirius Satellite Radio programming DISH Network offers to its' subscribers.
Personally, I don't think that JetBlue's decision to drop the FOX Inflight Movies has anything to do with the recent Bill O'Reilly brouhaha.

Think again. Follow the money. A whole lot of JetBlue's capital came from an individual named.....George Soros.
I guess they think if the stop showing FoxNews on their flights, the bad people who do not think like they want them to will go away.
My comments are not the ramblings of some far-rigt lunatic either. I watch Fox News AND I voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary. (and am still hoping for a miracle). It's really telling when the only media outlet that gave Hillary a fair shake this primary season was Fox.....the others (particularly MSNBC) were all too quick to kick her to the curb like yesterday's trash in order to embrace Barak Obama, the flavor of the month.

Would you get alarmed if an airline gave out free tickets at a Klan Rally or an Aryan Nation convention? Kos is as far left as those people are looney right.

Yeah, and thats why DL and CO decided to add weight to their long haul (domestic) aircraft and install such systems.

Thats a first, I thought the only people that would ever say that were members of Rush Limbaugh's operation Chaos.

They will continue to show FoxNews, its FoxInflight (Fox's Airline Movie Service) that is getting the ax

Your right, Its been a while since that flight (March 2007).

I would have to agree, while AS doesnt have the best IFE, they can compete witht the best concerning customer service
ie WN, B6, VX

People like boring, recycled entertainment for some reason. The success of most TV networks is proof of that.

Without meaning to go too far offtopic,
Kos denizens on the left are more comparable to your standard Rush-listening dittoheads on the right. Both are "challenged" for original thinking, but neither is nearly as offensive to reasonable people as the examples you named.
