With all of the recent cuts and additional fees, does anyone have information on planned cabin upgrades?

AA was planning on upgrading the 757 cabins with new F seats, new seat covers in Y, and LCD screens.
The 762 fleet was supposed to get various upgrades. I know new seat covers were done in F, but new seat configurations are not loaded into SABRE for next year.

Apparently UA was also planning some P.S. cabin upgrades, not sure what though.

Anyone know if they will move forward ? I know the AA aircraft are in desperate need of an updated
procduct...

Its a partnership with Westin, I think they are also upgrading the handheld IFEs in the flight.

BA has also announced an upgrade to the F cabin, which makes some sense given they just finished a big roll out on the J cabin. I know the CW on 767 was not planned for upgrade, due to planning to change out planes, I am guessing the 787 will be the replacement, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Airways#Future for details on the 787 and A380 order. also see http://www.boarding.no/art.asp?id=28356

I am think the CW conversion is near to complete in the 744 aircraft. Due to seat issues, the 777s were initially not receiving the NGCW seats until the seats were more securely fastened into the plane. I believe that issues has been resolved and the 777 conversion is underway, but I wouldn't swear to that.

DL, who have quite a large 767 fleet, are updating their J product also.

The 747 fleet was completed some time ago. The first 777 is currently in CWL having the work done, new CW, AVOD and a few other changes. It should be in service within the next couple of weeks. It is G-VIIY.

Cool!! I am flying BA ORD -- LHR 1 Oct. The MMB says 744, but the layout shows a 777......I keep trying to reseat myself to the upper deck, but the seat map doesn't show one as existing....despite it being a 744 (in theory). I have taken the 777 IAH -- LGW, but now it will be 744 LHR -- IAH -- LHR....but that is also still showing in MMB as 777, despite the website saying (if you look at the equiment sheduled to be used) as a 744.....

Manage My Booking.......It is where BA lets you change/assign seats, services offered, change flights, etc. After the ticket is bought, you can put in your reservation Code/last name on the main section of the BA website, and then a screen with lots of info pops up. also includes terminal assignments, maps, change of terminals, all that good fun.

Hmmm - so where can the difference be coming from ?

I don't know where MMB gets it's information from, but the seatmap would definitely be the most accurate source, as that is obtained in realtime from Amadeus. If the seatmap says its a 777, then that's what it is. Funny that MMB thinks it's a 744, I didn't think aircraft type information was stored in the PNR (if it was, if it changed in the schedule it wouldn't update the info in the PNR). Maybe MMB uses a cached version of the schedule or something.

This is true. What I was told (on another forum when I posted the question) is that the LHR -- IAH is indeed 744 (as is my ORD -- LHR flight). If I were to go to purchase a ticket, or simply ask what the scheduled equipment is, in both cases is 744. The guess from the BA crew is that a final scheduling decision may not have been made, or that the booking plans haven't been updated yet.

I dont' think the PNR saves the aircraft. I believe this as I've flown BA 551 (FCO -- LHR) and when it switched equipment from a 757 to an A320 family, the computer would automatically email me with a new seat assignment.

Since it is over a month till my Oct flight, I'm just waiting to see what will happen. What is odder, is I can't change my seat within the current cabin configuration (I'm BA gold, so I can pre-select seats). It only says "feature not currently available), so I tend to think that either they are in the process of updating the seat chart, updating systems, etc. Also, since I am the only one of about 4 in the cabin with seat assignment, I'm guessing I'm not the only one waiting to select a seat.

Also they only completed the Club World upgrade with the previous flat beds 1 or 2 years ago. As far as I know the difference is not that much between those two seats, well maybe the B763's will get AVOD considering they will be longer in the fleet than originaly planed I doubt it though.

SWISS is going to launch a new Long Haul business Class product with the arrival of it's first A333 in May 2009 and by 2011 the entire long haul fleet will be equiped with a new product in F, C and Y.

By when will DL have completed the upgrades on it's B772's and B763's with the new Business Elite?

It is virtually impossible for the aircraft in the schedule and the flight/date seatmap to be desynchronised in BA's Inventory system (Altea) - can't be done. Even when you change the equipment in the schedule, the seatmap is automatically updated and all passengers re-seated where necessary as part of the schedule change process. Unless BA are doing a large, staged schedule change (which is possible, it could be a seatmap redefinition with the NCW seats on the 777), I can't see how else this de-synch could occur.

All the 767s with Club World have AVOD and there is no plan to change the seats again.
