I was surfing around Matt Cawby's site yesterday, and when I looked at the May 24th panorama I couldn't help but notice the AC 777 without the maple leaf on the tail. Is this plane to receive the 70th anniversary sticker like the 763 and 321?

It wouldn't shock me if they put a Star Alliance tail on a 777 since it is the flagship of the fleet now and the A333s will be getting their makeover - and maybe a paint job or two - this fall. The 777 in question is probably the 77W scheduled for delivery on June 8. After that, there will be two more coming in the fall, and one next April, and then AC's 777 acquisition will be complete.

I have nothing to base it on, but what about a possible "Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010" logo jet. Air Canada is heavily promoting that they are "The official airline of the 2010 Olympics". The 777 would be a great billboard in both Europe and Asia. Again, no basis in fact, just an idea.

If they were decalling the tail in a short term scheme for the Olympics or the 70th Anniversary Logo you would think the Maple Leaf would be there underneath. The 70th logo seems to be a bit passed it in time to still add it to an aircraft. There isn't much if any of the 70th left lol. This will be interesting to see.

Quoting RobK (Reply 4): He's probably photoshopped it out
I thought about this too, and gave it some serious thought until he posted the pic of the Everett flightline expansion yesterday. The AC 77W is in the background on the left hand side, still without tail logo. Either he's being unnecessarily meticulous or it's not there.
