Hi everyone.
A Janet (Transport to Area 51) 732 was on final for 26L at MIA at about 3:50. Why would it be at MIA?

Came in from OKC.

For some reason FlightAware's tracking system is running a few hours behind.

Flew LAS-OKC as WWW385

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/WWW285

According to FlightAware is was supposed to operate LAS-MIA and had diverted to OKC.

Why a Janet 732 is flying LAS-MIA is definitely a mystery, unless perhaps they use an maintenance provider based out of MIA. I was also thinking JPATS or something DHS related as EG&G does have a number of gov't contracts.

HI all:

The Janet B732 (N5176Y) is parked on the AVBORNE maintenance area by the wash rack. I guess is safe to assume that is here for maintenance.

How old are Janet's fleet? They must be getting up there. And with plethora of 733s and 734s coming to the market, they should be cheap to replace.

Yes,but as they only fly short distances , will they run into problems like AH did with 733/4's?

Still a lot of cycles, no? And what problems AH had with their 733/4s?

Sorry,I meant Aloha. They had problems with the CFM's on the 733/4's they experimented with.

Janet planes shouldn't be doing more than a few cycles a day, not 15 a day like in Hawaii, so with proper maintenance should last quite a while.

Y'all may be on to something. I'll bet that Janet has been expanded to charter ETs from area 51 to board a cruiseship to the Bermuda Triangle!

I think this airline name used here in area 51 is JANUS, NOT "JANET".

Could someone please confirm this....call Signature Flight Support in LAS and ask them.... they do the fuelling.

Not a shot they would tell you. The whole operation is extremely secretive (as much as you can be with a terminal out in the open).

What in the world are we talking about?

Smile We're talking about the fleet of planes that the government maintains to ferry workers from Las Vegas to Area 51 and various other secretive military testing sites. These planes typically use the callsign "Janet."
