Does anybody know what the story is with the A340 parked at the de-icing bays near the international terminal. It's been there for days and it appears that one of the engines had its thrust reverser deployed for that time as well. Any maintenance issues with this plane. Normally AC would mess with it to get it going, as was the case when they had there 2 consecutive flap issues a year or two ago.

Same aircraft was delayed the previous day 24th - taxied out, stopped for 5-10 minutes on the taxiway outside the Jazz hangar, then backtracked along 26L back to the stand.
These birds are regularly going tech, either they are not that well looked after or its just bad luck. I hope nothing serious happens while they're waiting for the T7's arrive.

Thanks for the information. I was wondering what was going on, but never heard anything locally.
The blue smoke on "RTO" would be a good reason to park her. I imagine their flying a new engine in or rebuilding locally (though I don't think they do Trent 700 in town. Only cfm56 and CF60 and the plethora of small engines. I do hope they are paying attention to maintence. Back in '05 I flew on them to LAS and there was a broken gap filler between the flaps (probaly minor, though disconcerting) and various inside wall panel attached to the wall wrong. I believe the F/A and light panel above one of the near by passenger dropped partially only to hang by its hinge over the customer.

The A340-300 uses the CFM-56.
The Trent 700 is not used on any A340 variant.
Whoops...right you are....for some reason... I got the trent stuck in my head...though I am sure they would love to have some higher thrust on that bird....Thanks for correcting me...
