Hi all.

I'm a big fan of the smaller carriers in the British Isles, and I love the Manx livery.
But I don't know much about them.

So here are a few questions about JE. I'd be very gratefull if you could answer them in as much detail as possible:

- Does the JE fleet still consist of 1 BAe-146, 1 BAe-J41 & 3 BAe-ATPs?

-Are there any plans to expand the fleet &/or route network?

-Are they doing well financially

-They once placed an order for 3 CRJs, but these were never delivered. Why not?

-What are your experiences of flying with "The Wings of Man"?!

Thanks alot,
Jamie.

I believe they have 1 Bae 146, 2 J41 and 4 Bae ATPs although I could be mistaken. Im sure it was the ERJ145 that they ordered, these went to BRAL.
BTW, So you like UK regionals, what do you think about Gill Airways?

I love the livery, never flown with em (it's a bugger the Fokker-100s are in AF colours).

I know they're going through a very bad time at the moment- hope they get better soon!

And also why did BRAL become a BA franchise and Manx didn't as they were both part of Airlines of Britain Holdings?

Well Gill should come out of administration this year. There fleet has been reduced to 3 ATR42, 3 ATR72 and 3 F100.
Sorry, dont know much about Manx I believe there finances are relativly good though. I know that the route which is there most successful is IOM-Liverpool. Do Manx operate the ATP to LHR, or is it just the Bae146?

I've only ever seen JEs BAe-146 at LHR, but I think they do operate ATPs to here too when there's less demand for seats.

Staying on the subject of small Uk airlines; Has JY received their 1st & 2nd Dash 8-400s yet? Out of the 4 ordered, 2 were supposed to be delivered Nov/Dec last year, but I've not heard anything about them. If they have, where are they being flown to?

Oh and how are Aurigny (GR) doing? Any plans to retire those dreadfull Trilanders and increase their Saab 340 fleet?

I believe that the British European DH8-400s are due to be delivered in March/April this year.
Aurigny I have no idea about. I have heard that they are after some more SF340s but I cannot confirm this.
Another small regional, Air Wales are expected to introduce 2 x daily services between CWL and MAN this year.

JE have something to do with BRAL. They often come to SYY when the usual aircraft is out of service. The usual ATP has JE safety cards onboard so i guess they are tied with something.

Like I said before I scanned front page of Manx Anual Report for 1999. Also inside is few pictures, all of them of ERJ145 in British Airways c/s one of them is G-EMBH

British Regional Air Lines Group plc operates two airlines, British Regional Airlines and Manx Airlines. British Regional Airlines operates over 190 daily flights under a British Airways Franchise agreement, serving regional and hub airports throughout the British Isles and Continental Europe. Manx Airlines has proudly served the Isle of Man for many years, flying business and leisure travellers between the Island and major airports in the UK and Ireland.

During the year, six aditional 49-seat Embraer 145 regional jet aircraft were brought into operation which, together with two subsequent deliveries in early 2000, brings the current fleet size to 15 aircraft. Currently the Group has ordered 23 ERJ 145 and holds options for a further two aircraft. It remains the objective of the Group to operate an all-jet aircraft fleet, where operational facilities permit, at the earliest opportunity and accelerate the disposal of remaining turbo-prop aircraft as appropriate. Expansion of the Group is continuing at a brisk but controlled pace by developing scheduled airline activities and through the medium/long term leases of 7 aircraft to other airlines during 2000.

1999 was a year of significant progress for the Group. During the twelve months, we introduced a further six ERJ 145 regional jets into service, and obtained shareholder approval to increase our firm orders for the type to twenty-three, with a further two options. Fifteen are now in operation. In addition, we committed to two further 146 jets, since delivered in January and February 2000. This brings our total fleet for 2000 to 49, of which 40% are now jet.
