Aren't there a few carriers that have the new slimline seats that DL has? Maybe I'm mixed up with something else, but I thought I remember hearing that there are some other carriers that have the same seats as DL (or vise versa, I suppose  Wink )

Travelling is not all about the destination. its about how you get from point A to point B and everything in between.

I recently flew Y class on 9W (773 and 332) and EY (346 and 332) and they all had similar slimline seats with seatback IFE's and the new reclining positions that minimise intrusion into the area behind the seat....although I found the 9W seats to be a wee bit better.... smile

I knew there was another airline but kept thinking it was KLM for some reason. AY and EI actually have the exact same seats in both classes.

As a matter of fact i did not know that EI had upgraded their products, do you know if the rest of the A330 fleet will get the new interiors (including the ex Air Inter aircrafts)?

Aer Lingus is starting a major retrofit programme this winter and by next summer 80% of the fleet will have the new product. Even the older A333s will see some sort of cabin improvements, they have already been installed with new LCD drop down screens but as they will start leaving the fleet from next year they may not get a full cabin upgrade.

One of the older A333s, I'm not sure which one exactly but I do know it will stay until at least the A350s start arriving so it will probably have the new interior installed including the AVOD.

What do you think about the Recaro seats on EI?
Heard complaints about AY's new seats, especially on long hauls. Haven't tried them on A340 yet, ok on short hauls I think though they look kind of thin and hard...
AY's AVOD on A340 is a big improvement, I like the little extra you can send/receive text messages and short emails.

Quoting Andaman (Reply 17):

I've yet to try the Recaro seats but a number of other Irish members have been on the new Aer Lingus aircraft and the general feel is that the seat is a big improvement for space and it looks much better but they are very thin, lightweight and the padding isn't as good compared to the older seats. I've heard that it is more supportive though and better designed for taller passengers.

I've heard that the new Recaro business seat is really popular with passengers but again it's much lighter and thinner. The old Aer Lingus business seat wasn't lieflat but the padding was better.

Here is the old seat, the new seat is about half of that:

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t172/eishn/2004_01010102.jpg

Similar to the new Bmi Premium Economy.

Here is the new one where you can see how thin it is in comparison:

The new Aer Lingus AVOD is good as well, big improvement on the drop down screens and old PTV with only 9 channels. It's the same Panasonic system used by SQ but with less content at the moment.
