Second 747 SP For Las Vegas Sands

One of Bahrain´s royal transports has been sold (or leased) to Las Vegas Sands registered VQ-BMS, who will apparently soon be pround operators of 2 SPs.

It was noted in SNN with the VQ- registry if I read things right. Cool indeed!

The ICAO give both VP-B and VQ-B as nationaity marks for Bermuda.
As far as I am aware, this is the first VQ-B noted in recent history.

The aircraft has been reported as ex-A9C-HMH B747SP-21 #21649

Cool, from what I hear Sands will be using these 747's to transport high rollers to/from Macau and LAS with on-board gambling while en-route. IIRC the NV gaming control board has already approved the Sands plans with these aircraft.

Saw it in HKG about 2 weeks ago. The L-1011 and SP are regular visitors here.

I can't imagine the market is that good to have 2 SPs and 2 L1011s. How many super wealthy people do they actually fly to LAS?

What is the cost of flying and maintaining these aircraft? I can't even imagine the amounts of money these whales are gambling and (usually) losing for the casino to make this profitable....

You'd be suprised. Crown casino here in MEL at one stage operated Gulfstreams (not sure if they still do) to fly high rollers from Asia (usually HK, KL, Singapore or Jakarta) to MEL to blow their cash. They operated from Essendon, where they were limoed straight to the casino, was a very discreet operation.

If One holds a Nevada Gaming License (the sands) they have the right to inspect all operations worldwide: Atlantic City, 747's, Macau...

otherwise money could be just shifted around avoiding the rules...

I was able to view one of their SP's taking off from McCarran last week. They are "OK" but I prefer the 744's. They just look better in my opinion.
