<< The State Department announced May 30 that the U.S. and Kenya have reached an open skies agreement to liberalize and remove certain government involvement in civil aviation relations. The agreement, which was initialed May 30 after two days of negotiations, will provide benefits pending its formal signing and entry into force.
According to the State Department, the agreement represents a market-oriented approach to aviation relations where airlines, not governments, will decide which cities to serve, the frequency of flights, the equipment used and the prices charged. It includes arrangements phasing in opportunities for U.S. airlines to serve intermediate points in Africa over a three-year period. >>
