As you all know, there will soon be an airline based in Las Vegas. It has already obtained a license.

It will be using B 747 Classics.

When will it start flying?

Terrible name. Makes me think of "Deathstar". Not a very good association for an airline.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Awful name! Sounds very sinister. I know it's irrational but I think I'd avoid them. I'm sure most people would react the same way.

Why don't they just call themselves Air Black Box, Explosive Decompression International or In Flight Fire Inc?

(Too sick? Too surreal? Sorry. Just about to leave work.)

Black Star? Who was the genious that came up with that?

I bet they'll paint their planes black. B747 Classics out of LAS? Good luck. They'll be lucky if they can survive a year. N7 went bankrupt and they had an awesome buisness plan out of LAS. With 757's!

I'd fly an airline with that name - sounds cool!

A 747 sounds a little too big.

Yes I know. Horrible name. It's just like calling themselves 'Deathstar' or even something like 'Black Death'.........

However, it is great that there will be a new B 747 Operator, especially with the classics.

When will Blackstar start flying? Anyone know?

How will Blackstar make money? Filling the plane with 480 seats like TOWER. I guess they are looking to follow TOWER'S type of operation or maybe an all charter airline . But with so much competition on the Las Vegas market were are they planning to fly this 747 anyways . Good Luck to Black Star they will need it .

They'll be lucky if they last a week. 747s out of LAS?? PPPLEEEAAAASSSSEEEE!!! Look what happened to Tower Air--and they had a better market out of NYC.

Where can you find info on this soon to fail airline?
No way can they make money on older 747's.
Are they smoking crack? Like a previous poster said,
National can't even make it in LAS with 757's AND
Casino backing.....

I will try to be there first customer!  Big thumbs up

It sounds like a risky move but give them some credit for trying. Who knows, maybe they will defy conventional wisdom and become successful.

Maybe they will not fill up there 747s with seats.
Maybe they will put in lounges instead. After all it is a Las Vegas based airline.

I think it will be cool to fly SFO-LAS on a 747!  Smokin cool
Way better than the usual 737.

Best of luck to BlackStar!  Smile

SFO-LAS.... I can't wait for that one. Though I would fly it just for the hell of it. I know nothing about LAS, is the runway and airport facilities large enough to accomodate a 747?

I agree with other comments. Black Star is asking for problems. Do you now the vodka brand Black Death? Black Plague Airlines, how would that sound. As a European I like the name Silver Star or White Star for a US airline. By the way, what is the address of Black Star and who is the President Director? Please reply a.s.a.p. to this questions.
Thank you in advance.

It has been a very long time I haven't heard about Blackstar. Does anyone know what's going on?

When is 'Blackstar' going to fly?

I did a search on alta-vista and there are no listings for a Blackstar Airlines. There have been a couple of other threads going on in these fora about new and strange-sounding airlines that are supposedly due to start operations soon (for example, the all-business class airline flying widebodies from STN to JFK). I am beginning to wonder if some of these are just "fantasy airlines" that people have come up with and made web sites describing just for fun. I know there are a lot of web sites for Flight Sim airlines which are very professionally designed (and a lot of fun)...to the point where the airline the Flight Sim site is based on threatens legal action to close them down! I have been tempted to do a website for such a fantasy airline myself, which is why I got to wondering  Smile

The name is the big problem, not flying a 747 out of LAS. It probably is going to be charters tied in with hotel/travel companies, I doubt it will have an extensive schedule network! However I would need to see more information about it, however it do well, but it would need a name change!
