While taxing up to 22L at DTWfor takeoff Monday, I noticed the new building at DTW.
19 Jetways are up and the some are already numbered. D25 to D10 are numbered but there is no D13(no surprise) and no D22.......hmmmm. It looks like another 3 or 4 jetways are yet to be installed.
Oh...I was in a Northwest DC youknowwhat.

Quoting SYfan100 (Reply 2): I hope the new terminal will help that city get jump started again. It has been a rought couple of years with all the job losses with the automakers.
It's gonna take a lot more than a new terminal to turn around the bombed-out shell that is S.E. Michigan. A *lot* more.
I was born and raised there. In the last 30 years, it hasn't recovered. An airline terminal is simply going to make arrivals and departures a bit less unpleasant, that's all.

There was an article in the Detroit News on Monday about a green grant that was used to procure the jetbridge mounted aircraft HVAC & electrical connections, as well as the in-ground fuel hydrants at the gates. It says 16 of the 24 have been installed already.

It was posted a few weeks ago, regarding the gate assignments. Yes, there are several numbers that have been skipped.

No, but it does help give visitors a better impression as the airport is the first & last thing they see. Hey, we will take ANY positive news we can get here, because there is always so little.

Quoting NwaLAS (Reply 7): I loved the Smith and Davies Terminals....brought back the golden age of flying....the 1960's and 1970's!!!
Yup. Gotta love the feeling that when you walk into the Smith that you expect to see a bunch of 707's, 727's, DC-8's, and DC-9's (oh wait those are over at the Worldgateway).

Blue? I would have thought they would just go with a white. I don't think the Blue Jetway is very attractive

Thanks for the photos, Todd...
The jetways are right-out-of-box. Perhaps they will be painted.
Speaking of jetways, Friday afternoon at EWR,I noticed to the south of the NW gates,40-42,
the jetways across the ramp have advertising on them. HSBC Banking or something
like that..........things to come at your favorite local airport???

They arrived in the final color. Blue as can be! No painting will be required, as it has already been done pre-delivery. In case it has been missed, blue is the accent color used on both the landside and airsides of the building, so the loading bridges are but an extension/expansion of that.
