South African just announced a around the world flight
to break a current record. The flight will take place in November 2001, start at jfk, stop in Argintena, over the south pole, stop in china, over the north pole back to jfk. tickets can be purchased.
That would be one for the log book.

There is also a stop at PER. The most recent Airways magazine has an ad for it on the back.

For those interested, SAA seem to have made a few changes to their website at www.saa.co.za

They are an excellent airline, and I have flown them most recently to Luanda from Jo'burg on a 747-300.

The flightdeck crew were exceptionally friendly and helpful in accommodating my request to visit the flightdeck.

Should you ever need to fly down to RSA, get booked on to an SAA flight!

Great to hear of their RTW trip. Any web links and/or more info?

I called the # on the back of the Airways mag, and left a message, but was never called back. Anyway, I have a point:

That would be a dream flight, prolly for anyone in here anyway. But I am a student and have no way to pay for that, but I was wondering if anyone knew a way to get a "scholarship" for this trip. My school currently has a $9,000 essay contest going on for students college funds, so I am sure that $7,495 is possible, but would it one in any way be able to do such a thing for this trip.

Essays, report for a mag. anything? I am a hard working kid on my way to college and this would be the most blessed escape for me ever. Just curious is there is anything I can do now, or if I have to wait till I make my billions and have the next "flight of dreams" come around.

Regards,
BlatantEcho
