I'll be on EK001 from Dubai to London Heathrow on December 22nd, operated by the mighty A380. I can't wait to see pictures of the cabin (especially the economy class cabin since I never get to fly in the front...).

Quoting Ronerone (Reply 6): So will 1 August be the first flight to JFK as 'speculated' here on a.net? or will it remain as 1 October?
Still a very big question. The speculation was that a special 3rd flight between DXB and JFK would be introduced on August 1st as either a one time occasion or until October I believe?
I wouldn't think Emirates would send their brand new aircraft on such a lucrative route only 2 days after delivery. Why not DXB-DOH or DXB-BAH in the meantime for flight testing?

Quoting CHRISBA777ER (Reply 9): A380s will be a boring sight in years to come. Seems odd to think that now.
Boring is relative. I am still stunned by every B747 I see during takeoff and landing, and I doubt I will be less excited to see an A380 being around. But it will no longer be a reason for A.net Civ Av threads, thats for sure...

I think we will see the first revenue flights with the A380 somewhere in August. Should take a couple of weeks to get the crew familarized with the setting and we will be good to go.

Quoting Paulc (Reply 14): I hope they put it on the LHR - DXB route on 19th Sept or EK1 on 26th Sept as I am flying with Emirates on those dates.
Sorry fella - its 773A time!
What do you mean you dont have any bourbon? Do you know how far it is to Houston? What kind of airline is this???

EK is surely cooking up some form of a surprise. They are up to so many things at the moment, but have been keeping so quiet about it. So very unlike EK. So very unlike Dubai in fact!

Too true. People hang around the In-N-Out at LAX to spot, but don't consider it a full break until they see a 744 landing. It still has an impact, and so will the A380.

sooner or later in a couple of years, ill be standing at that in-and-out sipping a beverage watching parallel landings of an A380 and a Sonic Cruiser. =D thatll be an interesting site.
Travelling is not all about the destination. its about how you get from point A to point B and everything in between.

Quoting TreeHillRavens (Reply 16): All three SQ flights into LHR will become 380 eventually.
Ok, they didn't have a 'no duh' smilie. Quite simply, due to the slot constraints, demand, and fuel prices, certain city pairs will see most (or all) of the flights replaced with A380's.
Quoting CHRISBA777ER (Reply 9): A380s will be a boring sight in years to come. Seems odd to think that now.
Boring?!? Even at LHR, I doubt A380's will ever become boring!

Quoting SYDAircargo (Reply 21): Rumor has it that the 3rd one for EK will come to SYD, maybe February 09
It is more than a rumour, it shows up now in the Emirates Booking engine, and you can book to fly between Auckland and Sydney now from early February 09.

Definitely a no-no on that, a machine that big and mighty will never get boring, i get immense satisfaction from seeing 747's roar over head at Hatton Cross or elsewhere at LHR, it's a majestic sight.
