Downsizing: Positive Impact On VLA's?

Downsizing. My question is how this will affect current orders and future sales of the 380 and 748.

I'm beginning to think one of two scenarios: Either we will see what Qantas has done; cut frequency and increase capacity or cut frequency and decrease capacity.

I can't decide if the 380 is the saving grace of the current direction the industry is headed or whether it will lead to further bad economics.

Well, I guess with today's news of Thai dumping it's 340-500's an answer to my question becomes a little more apparent. I can't imagine a large influx of VLA orders anytime in the near future.

Less point to point and frequency is fantastic and back to the core markets with "fuel efficient stops" on mega hubs. I clearly see VLAs departing from BKK with a stop at TYO and then reach one or two US destinations. That's the most cost efficient type of operation on long haul flights even if it adds one take off/departure.
