Can I bring this subject to (for now) closure with this assumption? Also I can't understand whats going to happen to the old Fokker100s.... no one seems to have a clear idea. Thanks all, much appreciated.

super 80s? There are a lot of numbers of them in AA's fleet. I gues sthe Super 80's and the F100 will replace by 737 and 757 over the next t to 10 coming year s. Does American Ailines do a good job in the air? Because I will flying from Zürich to San Francisco via Los Angeles with Swissair and American Airlines and then back from Seattle to Zürich with AA with the new 777 (my favourite aircraft).
I'm very happy about this trip.

You are correct..the eventual plan is a 737/757/767/777 fleet.
Now, as we covered this at least a dozen times already, the A-300-600's are in the fleet plan until thru most of this decade (2008-9). The cycles are not bad as most are used in longer stage length flights to the caribbean or trans Atlantic. They are like a cash machine for AA..great lease rates, etc.
As to the Fokkers..assuming the US/UA/AA/DC Air deal goes thru, AA gets 40 more of this type. One would have to honestly assume that since the acquisition costs of the 40 units will be quite low, and the original 75 are paid for, that gives AA some low cost lift on 115 aircraft. So, why spend money, right now, on any B-717's, 736's, or anything else. They will most likely be around for another 7-10 yrs.They will be spending lots of money on intregating the US assets as well as TWA (assumption).
My best educated guess is that after the dust settles, AA will look to finalize the long range plan (10-12 yrs?) to replace most of the huge MD-80 fleet(excepting the newest 24 ex TW md-80s), they will continue the phase out of the 727's , and look at what is the best replacement for the 762's..either more 763's or new 764's. Probably more 752's or some 753's in the future also.
I also would not be surprised to see more options exercised on 777's, perhaps as many as 15-20 more. Actually, I think that some years down the road we will see a fleet of almost 100 AA 777's.

Actually, reading on the buyout of TWA, they bid on all the aircraft except for 10, which are thought to be some older DC-9s. Now someone explain to me why they bid on all the TWA 717s in service, as well as the 4 undelivered ones at long beach? This confuses me.

It sounds like an okay idea. Howver, AA has a lot of MD-80's, in fact they are the largest MD-80 operator in the world. I think that AA should keep their MD-80's. I do think that the F-100's should go. They can pry sell them.
