I was checking our union website today (AFA) and the rumor around the company ( I havent flown in 4 days) is that US is looking to eliminate about 500 pilots from DCA/LGA/PHL/CLT/BOS bases and 200 from the PHX/LAS bases. Somewhere I read that the union agreements say we have to have a certain number of airplanes on property, and apparently the West is very close to the minimums. Does anyone on here have more info?

That would be one way to get around the lawsuit filed by the pilots union regarding
unification of the two contracts. My guess would be that a majority of the west
layoffs come from LAS. US has really downsized there, ala PIT almost.
I don't even think it warrants "hub" status anymore.

Scary...I can only imagine the screaming match this will turn into. Not like its not a big screaming match already. But its not surprising, I am just waiting too see how many FA's will be let go.
