"Northwest is opening a new $1.2 billion domestic and international airport terminal in Detroit, Mich., December 2001, which includes the addition of 25 new commuter gates with passenger-loading bridges"

Looks like the Saabs will have jetways now instead of the bus system. That is a great new feature of the new Metro and means no more minibus rides to the airplanes in the freezing cold.  Smile

I was told by a Mesaba FA this past Christmas that the Saabs were going to have loading bridges at DTW also! Guess we will just have to wait and see if it is true or not!

I think the Saabs are included. The CRJs and ARJs will probably use the jet gates at the "B" concourse which is going to be adjoined to the "C" mesaba concourse.

Additionally, the company that is manufactoring the jetbridges seems to have lots of Mesaba saab 340s on their website and even article on the new DTW terminal and how they are procuding the regional jetways. ARJs and CRJs can use regular jet gates so I do think these 25 "regional" gates are for saabs because Mesaba only owns a total of 36 ARJs anyway.

Any NW insiders maybe have an idea about this?
