Are these airlines that have ceased flying to/from America?

As far as I can see Air Mauritius is still flying. Just checked their website and put in a dummy flight and it returned results ok.

I just came from MRU and I can tell you they are. I have seen them flying...  Smile They could be under chapter 11 or something of course.

Air Mauritius hasn't stopped flying, you might be thinking of Air Mauritaine. Two very different african carriers of 2 very different countries (Mauritaine and Mauritius).
North American, continues to operate charter flights... so, as you said, they are still up and running.
Maxjet will restart ops as a luxury charter airline.

You can add to your list MK Airlines (the british cargo airline) they went bust yesterday.

Their website does not say anything about that... . Do you have a source to confirm this?

They shut down their B747F operation, but the balance of the company is still operational,
but that is subject to change.

You can add:
Focus Air
Ocean Airlines
DAS Air Cargo

Cargo doesn't whine, moan, or complain

I just came back from vacation in Taiwan, I sat next to the pilot of Tradewinds cargo (he was also on vacation), he said he was really worried about his job security (he flies 747F). Part of the problem is the chain reactions of other airlines in financial woes which they have contracts with (ie: AZ).

If that's what he meant, it's still incorrect as Air Mauritaine ceased in 2007.

DAS Air Cargo

Also 2007.

Others not mentioned yet for 2008:

Alpi Eagles (Italy)
Aero Airlines (Estonia) - it was announced in 2007, but operations stopped 1/6/2008
GB Airways (kind of stopped: sold to easyJet)
Freedom Air (NZ)

Perhaps you missed the part about airlines ceasing operations THIS YEAR?  Yeah sure

Oh, and for the record, Canjet is still operational. They ceased their scheduled operations in 2006 but since then have been a charter-only operation.
