The ship has been named "City of Hamburg" in a ceremony in Singapore, and will join "Ville de Bordeaux" in Q3. A third ship is under construction, and will be delivered early 2009.

I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't name it "Hansestadt Hamburg", since "Ville de Bordeaux" has an all-french name.

Another small ro-ro is currently under construction at a yard in Bremen, Germany, which will be used for shuttle services between the Nordenham, Stade and Hamburg plants to reduce road traffic. Delivery is set for later this IIRC.

Who knows. The French take care of their language while many Germans seem to enjoy replacing German by an ugly mixture of German and English (=Denglish). Probably another example...  Yeah sure

Does the anticipated rate of production warrant 3 of these vessels?

I highly second that!

... and this name sounds even worse when the third vessel will be named in full spanish way like "Ciudad de Sevilla". All-french, all-denglish, all-spanish...  headache
