Republic Airways E170 Question

On Thursday afternoon around 16:30 or so, I noticed an E170 landing in ATL on the new runway 10. Interestingly it was in full Republic Airways livery and not one of their partners. Have they always had aircraft in their own colour scheme? It reminded me a lot of the US Airways scheme but it has the stars on the tail and clearly said Republic Airways on the side. Just curious?

They have two.... I think... in Republic 'House' colors. This way they can use them to cover both the USAirways and Frontier lines. These aircraft started in USAirways Express colors and were repainted a year, year and a half ago. I also think they might have an E175 in house colors as well

Thanks that makes since. I know that F9 runs airbus eqpt into ATL and I did not think that DL used them (though they do use Shuttle America) so it must have been for US. I believe that UA also uses them to IAD from ATL?

That scheme has actually started to be applied in the last six months or so. As of now, it looks like three of the E-170s have that paint scheme. The tail numbers are N806MD, N821MD, and N822MD. There are no E-175s painted in the Republic scheme. They have all been delivered in the new US Airways colors and exclusively operate as US Airways Express.

Republic......USAirways Express - Frontier Express
Shuttle America......United Express - Delta Connection

Both owned by the same parent company, but two different airlines.

They fly it for Delta Connection, I've seen one from their Republic airlines livery at MDW before the paint change.

Yet, they were still able to fly this plane in that livery.

I saw a 170 in KDCA with that paint scheme last week. Thanks for the info

That was probably N822MD. That airplane is on the Republic Airlines certificate, but is currently being loaned or sub-leased or however you want to say it to Shuttle America, and is being operated as Delta Connection.

With F9 canceling the contract and US not really wanting those E170s. IMO, the E170s will eventually be transfered to TCF and fly for DL and may eventually be painted in Citgo.

Partly correct, actually. Tail numbers N871RW, N872RW, N873RW, and N874RW were originally S5 aircraft and were transferred to RW when the Frontier agreement began. Now that it's been cancelled, 873 and 874 are being returned to S5. Several of the older E-170's, however, are being sold overseas. That leaves a few in limbo, and it has not yet been determined what their fate will be.

Is this full livery an actual livery of sorts, or just a white plane with a blue tail and small Republic titles elsewhere?

If it's not generic, are there any pics?

Side note, are any of the S5 E-170s in the hybrid white livery with the blue tail still around or have they've been repainted?

There aren't any recent pictures of either 860 or 979, but I'm pretty sure I saw one of them at ORD in April.

Why? because no one need their service? I thought some airlines could be willing to upgrade to E170 from 50 seats RJs.

What sucks about the "house" livery for DL is that there is no first class. At least on the one I flew ATL-IND recently, it was all coach.

You would've been on N822MD, then. It's a Republic Airlines plane being used by Shuttle America, and RW doesn't have first class installed on its fleet.

I saw the Republic Airways livery E170 flying for US at PIT last week.

There are also 5 Frontier E170's sitting at the unused end of the B concourse. The animal tails stick out like a sore thumb at PIT.
