Hi !!!I just discovered in Apollo CRS that Asiana Airlines will start a ICN (SEL) - FRA nonstop flight in June with a 747-400 Combi. This will start 23June when Asiana also start 777 service to SEA. This will be the only destiantion in Europe for passenger service. Asiana used to fly to BRU, VIE, IST and FRA before the 1997 financial crisis in Korae. The777Man

Hello,

Interesting information. According to the German magazine AERO International, the airline was facing hard times on the FRA route because of the tough competition from Lufthansa and Korean Air.

Anyone would know of articles/reports available on this please?

Best regards,
Alain Mengus

I also read articles about Asiana flying almost empty between FRA and SEL back in 1997 because no one knew the airline on this route and therefore almost everyone chose LH or KE. But that was during the height of the Asian crisis. Asiana planned to come to FRA already last year, but didn´t show up.

Welcome back, Asiana. Good luck. At least there is another nice aircraft to be seen here again. I hope to see Air Indias 744s and PIAs Jumbos again over here soon that dropped FRA in 98.

Hello,

BTW, would Asiana Airlines have published plans for Europe?
Is FRA only a first step to future network additions?

Thank you,

Best regards,
Alain Mengus

The schedules now does NOT show any Asiana flight to FRA for June or to anywhere else in Europe. I guess they had a change of heart. More info from someone from Asiana or who lives in Korea? The777Man

We cannot see any firm evidence that OZ tries to return to Frankfurt, but it's very possible story. At this point, any media in Korea hasn't talked about this.

The most expected next destination is, quite Bruxelles or Vienna. Vienna attracts more tourists in Korea, but Bruxelles also has great business activities and, what a fortune, KE suspended Amsterdam again.

AsianaAirlines: By agreement between governments, Korea-France route can be operated by only one carrier for each country, and currently it's dominated by Korean Air and Air France.

The above schedule posted by Sriwatthana is what I originally saw, but that's not in Apollo or Asiana's own Reservations system. I'll check tomorrow on BRU and VIE to see if those routes will start. The777Man
