Additionaly QF will be having a PR event at LAX in August when it takes delivery of its 1st A380.

For the record the first two planes into service will be VH-OQA and VH-OQD, with OQD actualy being delivered prior to OQA.

Does anyone else find it weird that they are doing a couple of services per week here and there without going daily on a route?

Yes, its very strange. I am flying out on the 20th on QF 93, and back on the Friday on QF 12. There is nothing earlier...

Why is there a seat missing in Zone 3 of the first deck in the second coach cabin? Also, it looks as if the premium economy section is placed in an irregular configuration with seats discombobulated.

They are just being careful with the utilisation of the first aircraft until they are bedded in, although you could argue they are being a little too cautious !!

Still nice to see them in the system at last.

Although I thought that the first QF route would be to LAX, I find it odd that they are going to start MEL first before SYD. I mean isn't SYD the primary hub for QF? I always thought of QF's hubs like being similar to AC.

YYZ is the main hub, along with YVR and YUL which are somewhat peripheral.

Just a side note, but where is QF's hubs? CNS? BNE? PER? and SYD and MEL?

Already booked my ticket on this flight

Lucky. I just booked my dad on the A380 for flights in November in business class. Im trying to decide if I want to surprise him and use some miles to upgrade him to F.

have a look at this:
http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying/A380/index
info on the what the bird has to offer with some better in site into the seats.
First class: It looks really user-friendly. they offer "dual-lay window shades!! (Is QF F the only class on any airline to offer this?!?!?!) there is an extra cup holder positioned just for when your sleeping. A rotating seat (I know AA offers that currently). the drawer units are actually big enough to hold fairly big items! the way the table folds out so as to have a bigger or smaller table is quite nice! and look at that PTV(43 cm / 17in)!! power outlets, USB and internet connection ports. the amenity kits also look good with nice and soft looking PJs as well as socks that even have grip on the bottom!

business class: first off, the colours look fine in this rendering. bed is over 200cm (about 6.7 feet long), which is big for business class. A LOT of places to store items. better seat control interface then 747. all PTV's are in the arm-rest. PTV is 30.7cm (12.1in). power outlets, USB and internet connection ports. a business class lounge which includes seats and a large 58cm (23in) LCD screen that you can hook presentations up to or screen a video if you are having a meeting! Im not as big on the PJ colour, but they do have the Kangaroo on the front!

prem econ: completely new seat (unlike NZ where it is just an upgraded version of Y) the seat reminds me of a modern version of the old business class seat, of course with a bit less room and such, but its only Prem-econ. (it was called the dream something seat... help?) power outlets, USB and internet connection port. clever storage area. it has a hardshell, which is a nice feature so as not to feel people bumping you as much. in-arm PTV 26.9cm (10.6 in) PTV. noise cancelling headsets in Y+! good looking meals. you also get a large pillow and nice large blanket.

econ: first off, the colour isn't green throughout the entire cabin, thats just one section. the seat itself moves forward when reclined! there are footrest nets for you to put your feet into, but because they're nets they dont take up any leg room! hard shells to minimize disturbance. power outlet (not offer before in Y) as well as USB and internet connection port. controller/phone (with SMS reply functionality) is stored in the top of the armrest so as not to be bumped! PTV 26.9cm (10.6 in) PTV. (I believe they aren't explaining the Entertainment section correctly as it says "in-arm touch screen" and its really in the seat back in front of you. they also offer a nice looking self-serve snack bar. wow the pillows look HUGE for economy

Wow those airfares are soo expensive - about AUD$2450 (from QF website). So it's a big no no! I can't afford it for that trip.

There are four seats at the back of the A380's upper deck. It looks like it's a very quiet place and i would like to sit there...seat numbers are 99 D-E-F-G near the spiral stairs. However, it's for crew rest. Don't A380 have beds for the crew rest room?
