Hello Guys,

Just wondering. I've started spotting again in the past few days and I was spotting with my friend Ander Aguirre on friday. We were very happy waiting for KLM753 from GYE and well, when we called, they said the plane was not confirmed, but they were told it was coming at 4PM..... 10 hours late. Well, I never saw it come in or not, but the fact is that yesterday, I spoke to BOG Spotter Santiago Escobar and he told me that on saturday a KLM777, with call sign KLM753 (The same call sign for the Ecuador flight), landed in Bogota, at 8:00PM which is the time its supposed to arrive in Quito, and waited there until 4PM.

My guess is that it went perhaps from AMS-BONAIRE-GYE-BOG and not UIO cause they perhaps cant fit it in (that sucks) in Quito. Anyway. I wanted to know what you people knew about this, and if you had any news, or what will happen. Did it go to GYE? Im really curious to know, or if some one can confirm this is true. Ive seen KLM with a few delays in the past month I think, but they are usually on time. Any way, Thanks for your help.

Stefano Rota

Hi Stefano,

I understand that the KLM flight that landed in BOG last Saturday 14th was in fact KL743, coming from AMS to LIM.
It took off at 1750 from BOG. I've no idea what was the reason fro the diversion, but I do know there were a few people happily surprised by that unusual visitor in BOG.

But your friend Santiago saw a 777 it at 8 pm? is he sure of that time?
Anyway, after the stop in BOG, KL743 arrived in LIM at 2018.

Not sure what happened to KL753 though. Any idea what KL743 diverted?

Quoting Airportmanager (Thread starter):
KLM777, with call sign KLM753

but is KL753 not always a MD11? and KL743 a T7? So some mix-up here for sure.

I wish that all skies were orange and blue!!

KL753/12JUN was delayed for 12 hours because no aircraft was available. The flight left AMS on 13JUN by MD11 PH-KCG and arrived about 12 hours late in Ecudador on Friday night instead of on Friday morning. Also, the routing of this flight was reversed to AMS BON UIO GYE BON AMS instead of the usual AMS BON GYE UIO BON AMS for operational reasons.

On Saturday, June 14, KL743 AMS LIM, operated by B772ER PH-BQN diverted for operational reasons to Bogota. The aircraft arrived in LIM about 4 hours late. There was no mix up between the two above mentioned flights as they operated on different days. You probably didn't see the MD11 in UIO because it had already left for GYE as it had come in earlier than expected.

it seems that KLM is short of equipment for long haul operations. how many aircraft have them on order??? and in operation??
