There was a aviation forum this week in Belize City at which it was announced that MX /Click are considering CUN-BZE later this year with the intention to tie it into some Euro charter arrivals.
MX served BZE some years ago CUN-Chetumal-BZE..but it was a disaster.....the BZE market has matured alot and this route (at a decent fare) would work. There are also a lot of locals that enjoying going to CUN for the weekend and to catch flights to FLL, LAX and TPA (but don't enjoy the drive and the border wait)
I really thought that it would have been CM PTY-BZE-CUN first...but I give live with MX!
When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

MEX-BZE was exploited in the past. The next input contains a route map by August 1966 that illustrates how the mentioned segment was already served by the defunct Honduran airline called TAN.
Last year, the Mexican low-cost carrier INTERJET tried unsuccessfully to sustain operations linking GUA-CUN with 320 equipment.
However, BZE-CUN may work different in many ways if the involved carriers would try to focus BZE for the leisure traffic as an extension for those travelers visiting Cancun area.
The proposed arrangement may undermine the dedicated flow of passengers aiming to CUN through PTY.
CM PTY-CUN and back is working as 11x weekly for the time being. The service may become unappealing taking into account the mentioned tag-on.
