Is Something Up For B6 At SLC?

Just noticed the JFK-SLC flights were retimed, westbound now leaves at 500pm and eastbound now leaves at 920am. JFK-SLC used to be one of those redeye markets where it made more sense to fly the plane to SLC than RON it in JFK.

Any Blue Crewmembers know whats up?

I can add that SAN has seen the major re-timing of one of its JFK flights as well - to an 8am departure from Lindbergh Field; it is a must for Blue to have a morning w c departure in order to compete with DL and AA for the business and Europe-bound pax. (I'm just surprised it took them so long to do it.) It of course also means an RON a/c in SAN too. As of now, the flight is just in place for the summer/peak season and goes away on Nov. 2 (when DLS ends.)

(BTW, I see that the SLC-JFK flight reverts to its red-eye r/t timing on Nov. 2 as well.)

I think this means that all multi-JFK-flight stations on the west coast now have an early morning departure, at least for the summer. Perhaps the same logic is being extended to SLC?

Also, there has been a lot of flight-schedule juggling during May and June; you may have noticed that the SAN-SLC flights have also been moved/adjusted since the 2-flight schedule was initially announced.

I'll be anxious to see what the experts have to say about this.

Sounds like standard schedule changes. Happens all the time in the airlines. They will do this to better fit the needs of the customers

its just a schedule change..wow this place is a rumor mill......Probably JFK-SLC was being flown with "free aircraft" With the reduction in growth and schedule cut backs SLC-JFK can now be flown utilizing a full or nearly a full plane.

Yes, I know schedule changes happen all the time with airlines, but not B6 on this route, they've flown it for close to 8 years now and the SLC-JFK has always been a redeye 11pm-5am
JFK-SLC has only had one very temporary change otherwise its always been a 9pm-12am flight .

Just thought it was odd, it is temporary as well and luckily I believe I will actually be able to take advantage of it (I hate redeyes)

yields are far better on flights that operate during the daytime.
