Hi
While my flight was taxiing to the runway yesterday morning at LHR, I saw a British Airways A320 and B767 both parked at Terminal 1. The A320 was pulling out of the gate, and the B767 was still at the gate...at the domestic pier!
Any reason for this? I thought all the Airbuses were based at T5 now and the 767s were based at T4 and T5?

I think they must have had some tech problems with the 757's so used a 767 and Airbus to cover. They have also used a 757 to cover in T5 since it opened.

Quoting 8herveg (Reply 6): You obviously havn't read any of the above posts in order for you to write that.
BA are only using 757s out of T1 for those routes, which are all International. The B767 was at the Domestic Pier in T1.
Nor have you! See reply 4. Part of the "domestic" pier has been reconfigured to international for the BA T1 operation. It's quite possible the 767 was operating an international flight in lieu of a 757.
Once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned forever skyward

Yes there are NO domestic BA gates at T1 now (as there are no domestic flights from T1)
The old Gate 5 domestic area is now the (largely) exclusive BA gate area for Nice, Hel, Mad, Bar, Lis and the old domestic exec club lounge is now the temporary Terraces lounge for those flights until the eventual move to T3

There are no more domestic or ROI gates at T1 anymore. Since the beginning or middle of June all passengers have been using what used to be the international departures area. No more domestic or ROI for EI, BA or BD.

Ill be seeing this in action tomorrow. Should be interesting. The advantage I can think of is that BD often suffered with gate shortages at T1 Domestic. With so many fewer flights and more gates to use, this problem might be a thing of the past. Fingers crossed anyway!
Brian.
Next flights: MAN-ORK-LHR(EI)-MAN(BD); MAN-LHR(BD)-ORK (EI); DUB-ZRH-LAX (LX) LAX-YYZ (AC) YYZ-YHZ-LHR(AC)-DUB(BD)

So, all of BA's T1 ops right now are out of 1 gate (gate 5)? Where is this gate?
