Does this make sense?

Date: 04/01/01
Flight UA5875 Departs FWA 2:30pm
Arrives ORD 2:20pm

Doesn't daylight saving time kick in on April 1st? As far as I know, Indiana doesn't change it's time. Looks like a serious error by some UAL employee.

Part of indiana does have day light savings. Fortwayne is part of eastern time zone.

The other airport such as IND and LAF do not change.

FWA does not observe daylight saving time.
I rechecked UAL schedule. Their daylight saving schedule starts on April 2nd(not on April 1st). Someone picked the wrong date.

Isn't Fort Wayne in the Eastern Time Zone though, IIRC only NW Indiana is in Central time and they don't switch to daylight savings.

If that leg is goofed up, all they need to do is make sure the ORD-FWA positioning leg is goofed up to. If it is, then all is well and they can fix it. Everyone will just be a tad early for the flight.

It appears the schedule is indeed incorrect. On 4/1/01 at 2:00am, the folks in ORD will move their clocks up one hour. The folks in FWA will not, therefore both will be on the same time (Central). So either this is a mistake or United is unveiling some new technology on this route. heh heh

Actually, it's Sothwestern Indiana (i.e. Evansville) that observes Daylight Savings Time and is on the Central Time Zone. All the rest of Indiana doesn't observe Daylight Savings Time.

Well, I have no idea if they observe DST in that part of Indiana, but I do know that either AA or UA is incorrect. If you look at AA4064 FWA-ORD its times are 1306-1407, someone has made a mistake.

I called and sent emails to United. No one responds. Looks like they don't give this issue much importance.

I have already booked a ticked on this wrongly scheduled flight. And I need to cancel it, cause I have some other things to do. Wondering, if I can use this "wrong schedule" excuse to make them waive the cancellation fee.

I used to do scheduling for Midway Connection in 1992 and that was one of my worst nightmares...fwa-mdw . i always made doubly sure, twice a year ,that i had that sched. correct, b4 loading with OAG.. Oops, looks like a mistake to me!!!

One error i did make at Midway connection was loading a flight in OAG from MDW-TVC. but i entered MDW-TVL which is Lake Tahoe...the flight made it out to the travel agents systems and actually had someone booked on it...they were disappointed to not got to Tahoe

Is it me, or is UAL the most screwed up airline in the business now.

Just you, I can think of some much worse airlines and mistakes.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
Why do you think a simple scheduling error makes them so screwy?

JetService, you are right.
I have only 4 minutes to connect at ORD.
But how do you know my schedule ? I didn't tell anyone.
Either you are God or an UAL employee.

Debn, actually it was just a lucky guess. I was guessing your layover was anywhere from 45 minutes to 1:15 (that's what mine usually are). The scheduling-mistake slashed an hour off the layover, so I just pulled the number 4 out of the air. Besides, if I were God, FWA would have UAL mainline service. Big grin
