In what is reported to be a slight delay on 777LR deliveries, EK has slipped its LAX & SFO inaugurals back by about a month each.

LAX will now commence October 1st, and SFO Nov 20th.

Are any other airlines suffering delayed 777 deliveries? SQ deliveries of 777-300ERs seem to be on-time.

I know that QR was being impacted by the issues at the galley suppliers maybe this is the same problem?

I saw on Flight Global that Qatar Airways' B777-300ERs are a month delayed due to "Sell". If I recall (without bothering to check), it's a galley components manufacturer who is having problems with its supply chain.

I am thankful it is just a month. When I first saw the thread title I thought for sure Emirates was going to delay it until further notice. In any case there are a few people that I know that are booked in January to travel from LAX-DXB for business, and a friend in San Francisco that is flying SFO-JNB via DXB.

Oh!

As I read the thread title, I though fuel prices had claimed another pair of routes. Whew!  spit

A one month delay for component assemblies is understandable.

I think these flights will do very well.

Talk about an impacted destination... EK will do well here.

SFO-DXB-JNB affects carriers such as BA. I think carriers such as SQ and CX are vulnerable as well as many of the "aunties" and "uncles" who traditionally fly SQ/CX/BA to India/Pakistan will now take carriers such as EK and 9W..

Case in point, my sister-in-law and her two kids would never take EK, but a few weeks ago, they took EK IAH-DXB-ISB....I'm sure there are many who will make the same decision.

I expect to see EK fly to ORD and MIA as well with YVR and possibly DTW down the line.  yes

I agree. DTW will someday be a good destination for EK.

QR's IAH-DOH startup has been pushed back a month as well due to issues with the galley components according to my source.

This has been operating a few months already.

Really.....that might be news to QR and IAH. They are (were) not to begin the route until early Nov. Perhaps you are confusing QR with EK. Emirates has been at IAH for a little over 7 months.

I'm curious, is EK being hit by any yield issue US east coast to India? The market seems to have finally reached a service level where competition is driving down yields. For the US West Coast to India... friends are no longer screaming that J class is impossible to book, but the market still seems to have a healthy amount of growth left to it. I think these flights will be very well received.

I'll agree heartedly with everything but YVR. Oh, there is demand. I'm not seeing Canada opening up the bilateral for a long time. YYZ would be daily+ by now if they only would allow more service! Since this isn't a technical matter, I'll leave it to the politicians.  Wink

these galley issues would that be affecting all 777 deliveries. could that be a resson Boeing is reluctant to increase 777 production above the current 7 per month.

I think EK has a good "balance" of pax who are going to many destinations...While I wouldn't be surprised to see yields/flight go down a little, I think EK does a good job of "spreading" the costs..

Just a small sample of what EK does....

I added KIX to the map because EK does get a good Japanese feed from GRU.
