Quoting MAH4546 (Thread starter): At the same time, TAM's daily Miami-Manaus service will be upgraded to a 763, form the current A320.
A320 to a 767-300, is their that much traffic between the two for such an upgrade in service?
Quoting MAH4546 (Thread starter): TAM will begin daily service between Miami and Rio de Janeiro on September 15th and daily flights between JFK and Rio de Janeiro in late October.
Finally, we have official word of this happening. New York has needed a nonstop service to Rio de Janeiro for the past few years. This is an excellent addition for both TAM and Galeao.

Great news! I wonder why JJ didn't load these flights in the system just yet.
Also with more frequencies authorized for US carriers, we'll see if they'll follow and open more flights to GIG which is in dire need of nonstop flights to the US.

Do they have the ability to start CNF-MIA in case they need to? With the new expanded bi-lateral and with the announcement of CNF-PTY, TAM would be all of a sudden interested in a CNF-US route, no? If AA jumps back on CNF I can see TAM going "oops"...

Yes. Even after the new GIG flights, there are 56 unused Brazil-U.S. frequencies for Brazilian carriers. Plus, with the new bilateral there will be an additional 49 unused frequencies.
Both the new TAM flight numbers – JJ 8056/57 and 8058/59 – will originate in CNF, but with a change of plane.
TAM has plans to begin MIA-BSB non-stops in 2009, but I do not know the status.

Yes that's correct, but I was refering specifically to aircraft availability. Given their rush to acquire whatever available in the market (resulting to a very diverse fleet), can they pull a couple of A330s for a CNF-MIA in a short notice?

One of them, JFK-GIG, is my dream coming true ! Bye bye Atlanta and stops in São Paulo, and now i can visit my customers in Rio even more times.

Concerning to JFK, their staff here (in NYC) continues to say the flight will be operated with A332 and will begin only in December.

Agree 100% !

And the leg CNF-GIG will be a single flight, operated with A320.

Well, the fact that TAM will try to feed GIG with a flight from CNF can show us the potential next flight to US (from CNF) as the airline will have a better understand about the size of this market as well as potential profitability.
Quoting PU752 (Reply 7): Good news for GIG, however Im still thinking about how underserved GIG is.
There are key markets still under-served (or without service) from GIG like FRA/MUC, LHR, DXB, MXP/FCO and MEX. GIG can handle at least 100% more international passengers (about more 180,000/month)
At least seems that the Governor of Rio state is making a strong pressure on the Federal Government and rumors says GIG will be the first airport in Brazil with a Public/Private Sector Partnership.

If they really want to start MIA-CNF quickly, they can pull the 763 off of MIA-MAO, making it an A320 again, and then route the new 763 pair to operate daylight MIA-CNF-GIG / GIG-CNF-MIA service.

keep dreaming!!! UA has already a hard time on their current flight. TAM will most certainly avoid going to such low yielding destinations such as ORD!

The A332 is a drem for everybody but fact is that JFK staff do not participate in the HDQ plans. The plan and it is the last netwrok version for the second semester shows GIG/JFK/GIG operating with B763 from OCT on.

Well, GIG deserved something better than the B763, which will scare away many business travellers. It seems that the flight operating irregular only 4 weekly and with the B763 will focus on holiday-makers.

The flight is not on the system because ANAC do not certified the 763 due to small issues
Because of that the first 4 charter flights were replaced by A330
As I'm using a portable device I cant quote
Hardi the 4x weekly means only 1 plane with overnight flights and a daylight on Sundays like the first JJ flight to JFK
JJMNGR
As the 763 is a temporary measure and they can manage to begin flights in OCT then bring the 763 but I have to say that JJ will be not in condition to replace AA with such equipment for C and F customers and even for people on Y
They will waste valuable yields with that so seems that HQ point of view is not the best

Well, we all expected something better for GIG-JFK. Anyway, good luck for TAM on this new route, and lets hope the airline replaces the B767 on this route as soon as possible.
Rgs @ JFK
25 Dellatorre: IIRC, 2 brand new A332 are expected until year's end, so maybe there is a chance JJ replaces the 767 in the GIG-JFK route. Would anyone know what is
26 C010T3: Well, if you'd like to know what's coming in the next months, vbeltraJJ posted the delivery schedule on Contato Radar Forum: A319 132 PR-MBU jul/08 A
27 VC10er: does jj reconfigure aircraft with their seats or keep old seats, like 767's from AZ and MD-11's with previous airline seats, or not to plan to replace
28 C010T3: The 763s and the MD-11 are seen as temporary a/c, so the interior stays the same.
29 Dellatorre: I guess they will finally receive the last 5 A319. How many extra A321 are coming??? I thought they would stick with 3. So that's 12 new long haul pl
