Hello Everyone,

Just joined and I'm excited to enter some of the great discussions I have been reading for the last few months. But first, I hope someone can help me. I recently saw a white 747 with the words United States of America written on the side at an Air-Force Base in Florida. It also had what looked like a bubble above the cockpit that appeared to house a camera of some sort. Does anyone know abouth this plane? Sorry, I don't have a pic.

Yes, 2H4. That´s the plane. Can anyone tell me what it's used for and who flies in it?

Between 1970-1989 when the cold war was still going on, an airborne command center was needed in case of nuclear attack and I think it was specially protected against an EMP explosion.

It is more or less a transport in cases of national emergencies such as 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina - in the article above no E-4B was used in either case.

However the E-4B may have had a role in the operations in Afghanistan and Iraq though this is of course classified information.

The engine is the heart of an airplane, but the pilot is its soul.
