I was watching Kathy Griffin's show last night and she was on an Air NZ Pink Flight, from SFO-SYD. It appeared to be a charter flight but I am hoping some Air NZ people out there can answer a few questions.
Was the crew a volunteer crew or especially selected for the flight (I ask because pilots were doing the can can with pink feather boas in the boarding area before the flight, not something you see often).
What sort of swag etc was handed out on the flight? I noticed some pink bags being handed out as people were boarding....did this double as the amenity kit?
Was the catering standard or upgraded/tailored to the flight?
Is this something Air NZ is thinking about doing every year for G&L Mardi Gras in SYD?
Any other info on the Pink Flight would be especially appreciated, by the way the pink feather boa around the nose of the gate of the aircraft was...well I am just going to say it...FAB!

I can't answer most of the questions, but I can answer these ones

The crew can choose if they want to operate any Pink flight that NZ operates, no crew member is forced to operate those flights
NZ has done this for several years now. The first was from AKL-SYD iwhich I believe was 2004. Each Pink flight is a charter flight with a charter flight number (four digit flight number). When you book the flights, the flight appears on NZs booking system in pink, so you can clearly see its a special charter flight, so if that type of flight doesn't suit you, then you don't accidently book it

Were the Drag Queens actual Air New Zealand F/A's, or hired for the publicity for the flight?
Real NZ employees who I said in reply #3 offered to crew the flight.
at least some of the drag queens were not NZ crew - Buckwheat is a full time drag entertainer and I think that Miss Ribena is as well , but I cant say for sure whether Tess Tickle and Venus Mantrap were NZ crew or professional drag queens

I saw this too flipping through the channels last night. Did anyone else think that Kathy Griffins isn't looking so good? I think she has had some face work done, and she looks even older now. Time has not been kind to her......
