I was looking for a flight in economy, lowest price to LHR from PHX yesterday and went to BA for the non stop from PHX - LHR. I want to travel 11/11 return 11/21 08. The good news was BA had the lowest price for the non- stop but the way they quoted it is very strange. There is only one flight a day and the price was listed as 361.00 per person for a round trip ticket.I saw that and thought that cant be right . I continued with the booking process and got a screen that said base fare 361.00 Taxes fees and surcharges 598.61 total 949. 61. Wow taxes etc 2x the fare. So what does the airline get to keep? When I tried to find a break down it was not easy. I understand fuel surcharge etc. Why not just give the bottom line I dont care what goes where. How much do i have to pay ? US NW Co all quoted the full fare as 791 plus 189.00 taxes etc. They all came out about the same but I feel that the way BA lists it is very misleading.  Wow!

You need to look at the fare basis and the storyline and it will tell you what you are being charged for.

If you look on the BA website:-

http://www.britishairways.com/travel/ba6.jsp/seccharge/public/en_gb

it will give you a breakdown of what taxes and surcharges are added to the base fare. The taxes normally go to the airport/government, and the fuel surcharge goes to BA.
