The Phoenix Business Journal is reporting Southwest Airlines will CUT the following frequencies from Phoenix by (1) flight per day:

Phoenix - Chicago Midway
Phoenix - Las Vegas
Phoenix - Nashville
Phoenix - Sacramento
Phoenix - Ontario
Phoenix - Burbank

At the same time it was also announced Southwest will add (2) daily frequencies to Denver from Phoenix (Frontier - are you listening?)

This gets old. They arent trying to put F9 out of business, they are more likely positioning themsevles for when F9 goes under.

A little surprised at MDW as Chicago generally is one of the top O&D markets from PHX. Vegas is probably just a small correction as leisure travel trims slightly to Vegas. Still means we have up to 16 flights a day to Vegas...hardly going to cause problems for anyone! I'm surprised ONT wasn't cut even more, the occasions I've flown PHX-ONT the flight has struggled to be half full.

WN also announced they're NOT closing three of their res centers after all, and PHX was one of those slated for closure.

I doubt this. With F9 in BK and WN building up DEN with ridiculously low fares ($89 MSY-DEN for ex.) do you honestly believe that this is not being done to help shut down F9?

Yes I know F9 does not fly to MSY anymore, and F9 ceased BTR ops IIRC.

However WN has a history of going into cities where there is a struggling carrier and trying to help them out.
