Allegiant released its June 2008 and Q2 2008 traffic numbers. Both showed large increase over the same periods last year.

June passenger counts were up 33.1%, RPM up 26.2%, ASM up 18.9%. Load factors increased to 94% from 88.6% last year.

Q2 passenger counts were up 39.2%, RPM up 32.4%, ASM up 24.3%. Load factors increased for the quarter to 90.5% vs. 85% in Q2 last year.

Average stage lengths continue to drop, falling 5.2% in June to 867 miles.

Nice numbers in spite of the continuing fuel crunch and falling economy. I can't wait to see how that translates to the financials.

If you fill 141/150 seats on every MD80 you can make a profit. Problem is network airlines cant run LFs that high, due to spill

Allegiant's profit is still off the ancillary revenues, not the load factor.

For example, in Q1 they had 87% LF. Their scheduled service ticket revenue per ASM was 8.19 cents. But ancillary revenue added 2.42 cents per ASM.

Hey, if G4 can make a small profit off their flights alone...that would be icing on the cake.

It would be the icing on the cake. But I believe their CASM including fuel is something like around 9 cents.

Ultimately they will always focus on their profits. They have said before that they will protect the margin. It doesn't matter where it comes from.

But I doubt they will ever raise ticket prices high, low base fares are part of the marketing scheme.

no airline will ever make it charging for checked bags, beverages, even to get an assigned seat.
They are crazy........

Congrats to G4  thumbsup  I find it very interesting that in the times we are in with the aviation industry and ridiculous oil prices, an airline operating "old" MD80s is making out pretty well considering. Must have some savvy management!

They've also been bashed in the past for leaving unprofitable cities and routes. Seems to be common in the industry today.

I've noticed a lot of $29 one-way fares out CID lately that are for last minute travel. This probably helps get that load factor so high, which is impressive.

Incorrect.

Which they haven't for a while now.
