According to skyliner-aviation.de Roman Abramovich sells his 767-300 and upgrades to an A340-300.
Makes me wonder, if he´ll also swap his favourite football club.  Wink

I don´t know, but I assume that it will be a fairly new aircraft. His 767 is just about 5 years old. Did AC place all their A340s somewhere already?

Smart move. The 767-300 is such a small plane with extremely limited space and extremely limited range - totally insufficient as a private plane.  Yeah sure  Yeah sure  Yeah sure

That would be highly doubtful as all planes were reserved (unless that, due retirement delay of the last two A340 (Swiss or Lan) changed its mind.

This is a factory new airplane.

If you look at the Airbus Orders´and Deliveries Spreadsheet on their web-site you can see that there are open orders under Airbus Executive & Private Jets for

1x A340-300 ordered 24/01/07 by a european customer according to the Airbus press-release at that time. This is the aircraft being discussed for Mr.Abramovich.

2x A340-500 ordered 26/01/07 (Algerian Government) and 18/06/07 (rumoured to be China Sonangol or Sonair - not sure if that is true)

1x A340.600 ordered 23/04/07 (Jordanian Government)

A345 MSN 917 was ferried to San Antonio for Interior Outfitting in June 2008 in Algerian Government colours
A346 MSN 924 was already reported in Toulouse with Jordanian tail colours
A343 MSN 955 left the final assembly line a few days ago and has reportedly a tail in the same colours as the Abramovich B.767.

Flown in Caravelle, Coronado, Friendship, Fellowship, Herald, Heron, One-Eleven, Trident, Viscount & others

While I agree it's relatively small change to this guy - still the fuel bill for an aircraft that size has to be a number which even billionaires respect.

Could Sonair be switching the MD11 on its IAH route.....the 345's would be ideal in b-class layout.
