UA announced Wednesday that UAX will discontinue service to Bloomington, IL (BMI) and Kalamazoo, MI (AZO), and we will convert to seasonal service in Myrtle Beach, SC (MYR), effective November 2.
Air service to these destinations currently is provided by UAX flying partners SkyWest, Mesa and Shuttle America, and ground handling is managed by Air Wisconsin.
These changes are part of our five-point action plan to combat unprecedented fuel prices. UA is reducing capacity and working with our partners to place aircraft where they have the most potential for profitable flying.
Regularly scheduled flights will continue through November 2, after which the BMI and AZO stations will close. UA expects to resume seasonal flying to MYR in late spring or early summer 2009.
Affected UAX employees were informed of the changes by their leadership earlier this week.
