Well, the Eclipse 500 can now be flown into known icing conditions as of June 25, putting that issue to rest.

Eclipse 500 Receives Flight Into Known Icing Certification
Certification expands flying capabilities for Eclipse 500 owners and operators

ALBUQUERQUE, NM --- June 25, 2008 --- Eclipse Aviation, manufacturer of the world's first very light jet (VLJ), today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI) certification for the Eclipse 500. With this certification, the Eclipse 500 can now operate in conditions in which ice is known to be present.

I remember it was said that the de-ice boots were a source of concern...that ice fragments from the wings would be "booted" into the tail mounted engines.

So what other certification hurdles remain for the Eclipse 500? Will EASA give the aircraft a green light?

It's been a long, harrowing EIS for this VLJ. Let's hope they've learned from this and apply those lessons to the EA400.

I know a fully integrated FMS/GPS system is still on the list of things to do. For now, the new AVIO system (the one made by IS&S and others) is using separate Garmin GPS units (where the keyboards are).

And there are a few other updates that they are still working on. Currently what is called version 1.5 of AVIO is being installed in new EA500s, but they are working on version 2.0.
