Gentlemen & ladies...
A hypothetical question if you were the CEO of your favorite airline or airlines...would you make any changes to the fleet?? Since I have ties to both American & Frontier...I would change American's fleet to this...
737NG, 757-200, 767-200/300, 777-200, MD-82/83/87 & MD-11s. Frontier would be 737-300 & 737NG.
How about your thoughts on your airline?? Regards.

If i were CEO of Alitalia (my fav.) I'd prob. base a fleet on 744/777/763 for widebody ops, and 737NG for narrowbody ops. (i'd prob. keep some good ol' MD-80's in for their look). I think a 757 would look smart in AZ's livery too!

If I were the CEO of United...this is what I would do:
-Hire more CSR's to work the check in counters
-Install self check in counters at all United airports
-Expand in Europe, and in Latin America
-Order the 737-600 to keep Airbus on its toes, and to replce teh 732
-begin to operate the 764 as a 762 replacement, and a plane of growth
-Order GE engines on the 777s and get 777LRs and 773ERs.
Just a few of my ideas, athough if I were to do some of them, I would probably bankrupt United.

ILUV767,
I don't think you would bankrupt UAL w/ your suggestions. They are exactly on target, every single one of them, perhaps Goodwin should be reading these posts.
If I were CEO of DL, I would expedite the 737NGS into the fleet and retire the 727/MD-88s as quickly as possible. I would also get more 777s and attempt to expand more out of LAX w/ increased flights to JFK, add EWR, IAD, ORD and PHL to the mix as well.

If I were CEO of Delta I would....
-Change the BusinessElite to 5 abreast seating in the 767.
-Put PTV's on all aircraft in the fleet.
-Order the 737-600 to replace the -200s.
-Expand Los Angeles by starting new European and Asian routes. Specifically flights to SEL, FRA, LGW, HKG, Osaka, SHa, PKG.
-Start international European flights from MCO.
-Offer better, more improved meal service, and on more flights.
-Increase flights from ATL to Latin America.
-Introduce BizElite on the 757 for the flights to Latin America.

If I were CEO of Finnair, here's what I'd do:
After assessing the current route network, I'd probably add frequencies to some routes and reassign aircraft types to other routes, as well as ordering new aircraft. Most likely:
- take A320 off HEL-DUS-HEL and stick it onto HEL-OSL-HEL (for you The Ticketor! )
- Restart Finnair service to SVL during the summer with A319 equipment (for Savonlinna Opera Festival attendees), continue Golden Air Saab 340 operations during winter timetable
- order A340-600's for nonstop HEL-SYD flights, partnering with BA and QF to provide an alternate for the Kangaroo route through SYD
- redesign Y class with more meal choices and make seats an inch smaller (ie Emirates) to give 35" seat pitch, also add PTV's and overhead screens
- operate cooperative HEL-LHR-SFO, HEL-LHR-EZE and HEL-JFK-LAX routes with British Airways, probably with A340-500 equipment
- assess HEL-BKK-HKG load factors, consider beginning nonstop HEL-HKG services in cooperation with Cathay Pacific, possibly switching between airlines (ie Finnair 2x week, Cathay 2x week), also study feasibility of operating continuing service from HKG to TPE
- launch aggressive marketing campaign in North America to highlight SFO and JFK gateways and easy connections to Russia, Scandinavia and Baltics, push C class product and oneworld membership
- begin Swedish domestic service out of Terminal 2 hub at Arlanda in cooperation with Golden Air and Flying Enterprise

If I was the CEO of Air Canada, I would do the following with their fleet:
-Retire all remaining 737-200, BAE146 and DC-9 aircraft as soon as possible (about 70 airframes) and replace with B717.
-Retire all F28 ASAP and replace with CRJ 700 series.
-Sell the 747-400 combis and 747-400 passenger aircaft (Branson might be interested). Replace them with a mix of RR powered A340-500 and -600 (partially being done already).
-Retire the domestic 767-200 fleet and replace with A321 (already being done) and convert some of the -200s into an all-freight configuration.
-If feasable, attempt to trade CF-6 767-300ER aircraft (inheirited from CP) for those powered by the PW4060 to attain commonality.
-Replace the 767-200ER fleet with used P&W powered 767-300ER.
-Purchase a small fleet (4-5) of P&W powered MD-11 aircraft for long range cargo-only operations.
These aren't drastic changes, or even the ones that I would most like to see (I particularly love the A330-200). But they would be the most likely to improve the bottom line of the company.

If I were to run Continental,
-widbodies over water. 757s don't do justice for paying customers to Europe.
-more aggressive expansion to Asia. SEL, KIX, and another Japanese city.
-open a third hub for CO Ex in the west.
If I were to run KE,
-expedite PTV installation in all a/cs.
-resolve the indifference that exists between ex-military pilots and civilian pilots.
-aggressive marketing campaign outside of Korea.
-develop KE into Asia's KLM, with Inchon becoming the Schipol of the east.

If I were CEO of Saudi Araibian I would make major changes
Jeddah would be tha main hub
-there would still be a point to point system all around Saudi Arabia
-I would get rid of the 747-100's and 747-300's
-Start flying back to Tokyo
-Make the Jakarta flights 5 times a week to Jeddah
-Kuala Lumpur frequencies would be increased
-Flights to Orlando Fl. suspended even on the seosonal basis
-The Dammam and Ridyah hubs would just be for Domestic Saudi flights.
Obviously these look unrealistic but then again Im no CEO and Saudia is run by the Royal; Family

ANyway here goes
- Refresher courses for all flight attendents
- Refresher courses and retraining for some flight crews
- Relaunch Raffles Class
- Tearing out Raffles Class, and replacing it with the new new Raffles Class
- Tear out the whole A310s and fit it with 777 standard seating with new new Raffles Class
- Sue the UK Government for not letting SIA fly from LHR - USA

CEO of Delta Connection...
GO WEST!
CRJ's are already the choice of aircraft to fly the shuttle flights between BOS and DCA where they can offer twice as many flights as a 727 and make the same amount of money, all the while pleasing the passengers with more choices for departure times.
So Comair moves into LAX. Sorry Skywest, you've been cheating on Delta with United, anyways...you get replaced. CRJ's from LAX to Sacramento, San Diego, and Oakland. Aw heck, why not Las Vegas and reno as well? San Diego to SFO would be a nice shuttle flight, and you offer the passengers the works. Did I mention the new 44 seat CRJ's? They are a reality out of MCO, and with that much more leg room, and leather seats, you've got yourself a winning shuttle service on the west coast.
ASA can play in Atlanta since they have to take all of Comair's CRJ orders to keep up anyways. Heck, Comair's even taking some flights out of DFW now. So Delta holds true on their promise of LAX as a hub, and Skywest can stay in SLC if they want...If not, ASA and Comair could replace them in a heartbeat. Watchout American Eagle. ASA and Comair are the same airline now, and that severely threatens your sudo hold on the regional market. The ERJ can't really compete with the CRJ anyways. "Look ma', I put two jet engines on my Brasilia!"
But hey, this is prolly why I'm not the CEO...

As for Varig I would :
-Increase hub ops at GRU instead of making many flights stop at Rio.
-Increase the replacement rate of the M11s to 777s.
-Replace one of the 2 daily flights to LAX to one into SFO, in order to profit from United's feed.
-Start fligths to IAD for the same reason.
-Start some code share at LHR with Star partner BD (BRU and AMS for example).
-Also code share with AC in Canada.
-More unlikely but be more agressive in Europe (it is realy lagging behing european carriers), with increased frequencies, and reopening some routes it has dropped (again AMS and ZRH).
-Start flights to AKL and SYD. There is traffic, and it would have feed from Both AirNZ and Ansett.
-Finally why does Varig flies 3x a week to Nagoia and not to KIX? Can anyone tell me that?

I pretty much agree with most of what BA are up to!!
If I had taken over from Bob, I would have bloody well re-introduced "To Fly, To Serve" livery, and get rid of all the nasty scribbles that Bob had introduced.
Get rid of the snotty attitude of some of the cabin crew-that really irritates me.
All a/c would have been re-named after British cities, bodies of water, famous figures etc.
Apart from that, I totally agree with their fleet replacements, and overall strategy.

Englandair: The point of an ASIAN airline flying from LHR - USA is to boost competition and lower prices for the consumer. And if you say that why should they take business away, if BA or VS or UA or AA are so good then they have nothing to worry about and that would be a loss -making Singapore Airlines route.
I hope that clears things up. Singapore Airlines - Asian Airline.

For Northwest:
Order Dornier 328JET to replace Saab 340's----All-jet fleet
Order Avro RJ100 to replace DC-9
Order A321
Order 767-200
Order 767-400
Order 777
Cancel A330 orders
Cancel 757-300 orders
Put PTV's onto most of the mainline fleet in all classes
Start phasing out older 757's
Make 757 more spacious
Put DC-10's into Northwest Cargo
Improve First Class
Improve coach to compete with other airlines with headrests, PTV, legroom, etc...
Keep the 727. It looks cool
It will look like this:
D328JET
CRJ
Avro RJ85
Avro RJ100
Airbus A319
Airbus A320
Airbus A321
Boeing 727-251
Boeing 757-251
Boeing 767-251
Boeing 767-451ER
Boeing 777-251
Boeing 747-451
CARGO:
DC-10
747-200
This will probably make them go bankrupt

Things I would change with Air Canada:
-order B772/773LR's instead of A345/A333...
-order newer B762's
-order more A319's and more CRJ's
-order more 763's
I would increase pitch in all classes, in economy to a 34" minimum, in business I would introduce beds to compete with BA and soon VS on routes like LHR/LGW-YYZ. I would install PTVs on all planes except for CRJ's (on all classes). I would start the following routes:
YUL-BEY (B762)
YYZ-JNB (B773LR)
YVR-CDG (B762)
YYC-JFK (A319)
YUL-YEG/DEN would be kept
I would also make an agreement with oneworld alliance, that way my airline (AC) would be a part of two amazing alliances

Well, I am the CEO, and I have one quest. To find ways of gaining the top marketshare on routes by through a series of marketing ploys, stressing our amazing service and low fares, without actually ever providing such service.
