As we all know fuel prices are rediculously high. However, international flights for the most part (England to France for example is an exception since they are both in the EU) are very high-yielding. You can charge a lot more for someone to fly from say, Miami to Venezuela than you can from Miami to Los Angeles. This would offset the high fuel price. Some flights may be so long they'd be unprofitable. If flights that are long enough to reach other countries (US-EU may be pushing it) are the most profitable, I'm sure that almost everyone will be cashing in.
