I did a search but didn't see any posts announcing this.

Fair Use:
"Frontier Airlines says it is cutting 456 jobs in Colorado, and United Airlines has told state officials that it plans to eliminate 150 jobs in the state.

Frontier spokeswoman Lindsey Purves confirmed the number of positions that her airline plans to eliminate today but declined to provide details. She did not disclose whether the airline has informed other states of any cuts."

Oh yes, this came out a few weeks ago. They announced layoffs when they made comment about selling the aircraft and reducing the schedule this fall.

United furloughed more then 150 employees already in Denver. Thats about how many ramp employees got their pink slip last month. I haven't heard how many Customer Service employees yet. There will be more by the end of the summer.

Rumor floating around SFO today was they may file chapter 7. Hope for the best and that they can avoid it.

I'm actually surprised at how few this is. 456 is less then 10% of their workforce (roughly 6000). Not that anyone here cares about anything other then doom and gloom, but there was a increase in their load factor over last year as well.

But, you know how the rumor mill is. Nobody really knows except the top brass. I see F9 fighting to the last tooth so to speak. I would even bet that Menke would cut until F9 was down to 3 planes left in the fleet before filing chapter 7. Menke has a great reputation to keep in order, and I am sure he is going to use any tactic to keep F9 flying. Even if this means merger possibilities. There are many options available to F9 at this point, and they still have a full deck of cards. By the way, oil fell about $4.00 per barell. Hopefully this might be the first sign of the plunge we have all been anxiously waiting for.

Gosh I hope you are right, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too much. For every step backward oil prices take, they seem to take two marches forward very quickly. Its amazing how speculative it is - the threat of a hurricane along the Gulf Coast or some nut case trying to blow up a pipeline somewhere else, and the price skyrockets. Lets hope none of these things happen.

F9Animal - a lot of people are rooting for Frontier on here. Even those that might work at different (or competing) airlines should not wish to see any airline fail, especially one that has a great track record like F9 does.

Although I work for WN, it would be ashame to see any airline fold. What would be left to spot at the airport on down time????  Sad

Unless Menke provides DIP financing out of his own pocket, there's not much they can do.

Noticed today in DFW while working an delayed flight to SLC, agents were rebooking
passengers thru DEN and tried booking on Frontier...Delta has discontinued their ticketing and baggage agreement with Frontier. Looks like this took place effective June 25, 2008.

Not looking good if airlines start dropping their ticketing/baggage agreements.

Best of luck to everyone at Frontier in DFW!

That's the first I've heard of that. Interesting.

F9Animal - I hope that the job cuts end up being even smaller than the 456 announced. Sometimes people decide to leave, even though they would not be cut, which allows others to stay on and fight the good fight. Even though I work for a competitor, I am NEVER happy to see someone in the trenches everyday, lose their job. Hopefully F9 can get back some Airbii in 2009 and bring everyone back. Best Wishes to all at F9!
